Donating An Article

I recently noticed that you have the option to donate your articles on helium. What does this mean? What does donating your article to one of these charities do? Does it give them all the earnings the article generates? Anything else?

I'm not with heium and do not do articles but I bet if you donate it, then the earnings will go to helium and not yourself. I wouldn't like that.

I haven't been on helium long, but from my understanding, when you donate an article, all the earnings go to charity. I am not sure if you get to choose what charity, but it does go there instead of to you.

I believe it does provide the organization with earnings from your article. It also is shown differently when someone goes to choose an article. One time I had several articles to choose from and I chose the one with the donation. I would think that since you took time to create the article and aren't being paid for it, you should be able to use it as a tax deduction for donated time and the value of that time. The earnings page now has a charity line with how much the charity earned because of you. So anyone can print it out and give it to their accountant to help with tax deductions. I think there are some animal rescue groups like the Raptor Center and so on. I wrote to one author and she works for the center (it was a month or more ago so I don't remember who she was). She said the money is really needed and they put it to good use to rehab the ones that can go back and keep the ones that can't. Take care
