Out In The Rain!

This has been brought on by the recent, extremely wet and windy weather we've been having here, in England...
All through the night, the wind had been howling, the rain beating against the window pane, driven by the wind. Finally, warm and snug, I drifted off to sleep, dreaming of a sunny day ahead.
I awakened, next morning, intending to take a walk around the village, to get some fresh air into my lungs. The wind has dropped, but I saw no sun streaming through the curtains. Perhaps it hadn't risen yet... I glanced at the clock... eight-thirty, and the sun should have been up by now. So, I tumbled out of bed, and walked to the window, drawing back the curtains to behold a torrent of raindrops, falling from the dark, grey sky. Disappointment welled inside me, but I went to fix my breakfast, hoping that things might improve by the time I'd finished. Alas, that was not to be; there was no break in the cloud and it was still raining quite heavily.
Oh, what the heck! I guess it could have been worse, it certainly could have been better, but I eagerly bathed, donned my jeans, waterproof coat and boots, and took the plunge. Wow!!! It had been quite a time since I'd walked in the rain like this. There's something cleansing and refreshing about walking in rain, which I love, and here I was, walking down the Street, with the rain bouncing around me, off the roads. It felt good... I lifted my face to the sky and let the rain beat down upon it, as if in the shower, but cold and refreshing, the rain made my face tingle with each raindrop. I was now walking in the lane, called Foxhole Lane, for obvious reasons. There are very few houses in this lane, mainly farmhouses and lodges to manor houses, so it's very quiet. I found myself jumping and stomping in puddles and watching the ripples that I had created, then as the puddles smoothed back over, the splash of the raindrops into the pool and the ripples created by them. I was happy... there was nobody about, and I was feeling quite exhilarated by the fresh rain upon my skin. I started to skip and then to dance and twirl my way up the lane, arms upstretched... so happy to be alive and so at one with Nature and the Elements, the smell of wet grass and trees... the trees acting as intermittent umbrellas against the pouring rain.
Do you like to walk in the rain, and do you do it often? Or would you rather walk in the sunshine? I like to do both. I think we have to balance our times out between the different types of weather to experience all that life has to offer. Can't wait for Spring!!!:)

Oh, I bet Chey loved that! I presume it was her who danced with you in the rain? I love to dance in the rain too, but I like to do it out in the fields and here is not like your area, it's always so muddy when it rains, unless it's a Summer shower. Never mind... I make the most of it when I can. :)

That's feasible, my friend. Scorpio is a water sign, so she's proving true to her birth traits. I'm sure she'll learn to swim very soon.
There's something about water that little ones really love... I don't know why, but that seems to have stayed with me. Perhaps my love of the outdoors, Nature and the Elements. Who knows. I can be a strange bod, at times. ha ha ha
Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xx

I don't like it when the wind drives the rain through your clothes but I don't mind the temperature it's been lately without the wind.
Yes, I like to be snuggled up in bed listening to the sound of rain on the window pane. You're right, it's kinda soothing and comforting.
Love and hugs. xxx

I don't like to be out in the rain either. Lizzie and Gizmo also do not like to be out in the rain. If they have to go out, then they have to be towel dried when they come in. I like to sit in the house and listen to the rain.

I suppose it depends on where you're headed. If you have to go to work, or an appointment, then yes, I would carry an umbrella, or with my long hair, I would arrive looking like a drowned rat!!!
However, if I'm just walking in the rain for the enjoyment, and the cleansing aspect of it, I'll make do with a waterproof coat with a hood. Still, sometimes it blows off if it gets windy, but I'm happy with that. I have even paddled barefoot in the rain, Why. lol.
Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Honey I cannot begin to tell you how much your wonderfully descriptive post lifted my spirits! I can see you in my minds eyes jumping in all those puddles and dancing around! I wish I were fit to do that and I am aiming to be doing things like that by the end of the year!
I used to love walking in the rain but haven't done it for years - in fact I remember going swimming in the sea (in a Scottish autumn) with my cousin in the rain - everyone thought we were mad but we pointed out that we were going to get wet anyway and what was the big deal? Good for you honey , good for you xxx

Oh, I'm so glad I can make you feel better, Mummymo. Really, I think each new day is a blessing, no matter what the weather is like, and we need to make the most of it. As it happens, I do love the tingling, cleansing feeling of rain on my skin, so what's the point of moping around indoors... I have to get out in it!!! lol. I've been known to walk barefoot in the rain, because it was better than wearing my soaked-through shoes. I just took them off and paddled, and you know what? It felt really good!!! Then it was nice to get home and soak in a nice hot bath. :)
I went to play in a Country Stoolball tournament one time, and it was raining and misty. This was in Seaford, and the recreation ground is right across the road from the beach. So, I had gone armed with swimming gear, in the hope of a swim. Well, I wasn't going to be disappointed... it was about the end of Summer, but it was quite cold and dank. However, I wanted to swim and I wasn't going to be put off, so my friend and I went into the sea anyway, in the mist and rain. It was quite an eerie experience, hearing the fog horns on the boats, and not being able to see too far, but the water was warmer than the weather outside, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You're not a Libran by any chance, are you? lol
Keep thinking positive like that, my dear friend, and by the end of the year, you will get your wishes. I will bear in mind that you need to be well by the end of the year, and incorporate it in my candle energies which I'm sending to you. Love and hugs. xxx

My favorite season is summer. I love the warm weather, sunny days and light evenings. I feel a bit sad when August ends and the autumn begins. However I do like to see the pretty red, gold, yellow and orange leaves that have fallen from the trees. Spring is another season that I like with the new growth on the trees and pretty flowers. Winter is the season that I dread, cold days, freezing weather, damp and wet from all the rain. It can be refreshing walking in a downpour of rain, smelling the sweet fragrance and feeling quite exhilarated. I like to see raindrops splashing into puddles and like the sound of the cars wheels splashing through the puddles. One time I remember I saw a rainbow in the sky and I took a photo of it. I prefer sunny days to rainy days and very much look forward to the spring.

I was a summer baby so perhaps that is why to summer is my favorite season. When I was in Belize they told me they had a cold front. It was 20 degrees and quite sunny. I thought if they want to know what cold weather is like come to the UK in January. Melbourne in Australia is known for having all four seasons in one day. I have been to tropical countries that have a wet season and then it is quite fun to be in the heavy rain. That is because I dry out in the hot sun quickly. Have a lovely day my friend.

I miss those windy wet days from England. Even the odd days of visiting the coast and walking along the sea walls in the salty wind and rain, jumping off the sea wall into the wind and ending up back in the place you jumped from, sheltering in a bus stop or behind a wall, getting a warm pub lunch with a pint of best, I do miss that....

Hmmm, I serve Best in the pub where I work! lol.
I used to live in Brighton, not far from the Marina and every Sunday, when the kids were small, I used to walk them down to the seafront, close to the Marina, and all along the promenade to Hove Bowling Alley. Then back, on the beach. We used to have great fun, and the best days were when it was just drizzling with rain and the sea salt was blowing off the sea. That is about the most refreshing it can get! My skin felt so good when I got back home.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your input.

I don't know if you're interested in a bit of nostalgic reading, Just, but if you are, I've started several discussions in and around the Brighton area, which perhaps you'd like to look up? Just a thought... if not, then don't feel bad. I thought you might be interested, is all. :) Here are a few.

Hi Deebomb. Well, it wasn't that cold in fact. It was the wind chill factor that made it feel colder than the 45-50 degrees farenheit that it really was. I think it's fun if you think it's going to be, like everything... it's what you make of it. If you go out all dreary and miserable because you're thinking about how wet you'll get, then it won't be fun, but if you think of the cleansing, revitalising effect it's going to have, and how much we need water in our lives, then you're sure to enjoy and celebrate the rain's presence.
Think about it... I will never tire of stomping in puddles and watching the drops form on the trees and dancing in the rain is such fun!
Brightest Blessings.

Rain, rain go away, come back another day. We may say these things but the rain has a mind of its own and does what it has always done and put a damper on the spirits so to speak. But having the notion to have a nice day walking in the rain tells the weather to do what ever it likes cause we are not bothered as we enjoy the weather when we have an occasion to. We need the rain just as much as the sun so our appreciation of the climate is an ongoing wonder of the whole world.
bless you my friend.

Very true... in fact, all four Elements are essential parts of life. Without them, we wouldn't exist.
There's one thing I would debate on, and that's your idea that water dampens the spirits. I don't feel that way at all... maybe when there are floods and disasters, yes, my spirit becomes somewhat dampened but everything happens for a reason my friend, and together, the Elements will put things right. That's a part of my beliefs showing through!
Anyway, I love the rain, just as much, if not moreso than the Sun, because I can't take intense heat on my fair skin. :) I couldn't live in a country where the sun shines all of the time, and the rain is always warm and torrential, IF and when it comes. I don't mind the climate in this country at all. I love the outdoors, Nature and the Elements.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. Keep smiling! x

I love it when you start a discussion like this! It's such fun to read hun! I have to admit I hate walking about in the sun and don't particularly like walking in the rain either. I prefer the weather to be cooler rather than warm for me to have a walk but walking is something I never really take the time to do. I just find it boring - weird huh? I think for my health and for a peaceful mind I will have to start doing more walking and soon! I love spring too. xx

Yes, Spring gives you that sort of "awakening" feeling, but I love all the seasons. Autumn is my favourite, but then again, I like to see the changes as the Wheel turns.
Aren't you in Britain Anon? We very rarely seem to get it too hot to walk. There's always a westerly in the Summer months, and if you walk in the woods, you're sheltered from too much heat, or on the beach, there always seems to be a comforting breeze. :)
Brightest Blessings... and thank you for your comments.
