I was reading this article (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,322688,00.html) it is about the UFO sighting in Texas. Anyways, there is a gentlemen that say that Texas is part of the Bible belt.
Now I am from the south, I don't think that Texas is anywhere near the bible belt. To me the bible belt is like Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, states in that area....
What do you think?

I live in Amarillo, Texas and we've always considered ourselves as part of the Bible belt. But I looked it up in wikipedia. This is what it said.
Although exact boundaries do not exist, it is generally considered to cover much of the area stretching from Texas in the southwest, northwest to Kansas, north to most of Missouri, northeast to Virginia, and southeast to northern Florida.
Tweedie (1978) defines the Bible Belt in terms of the audience for religious television. He finds two belts, one more eastern that stretches from central Florida through Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and into Virginia, and another that is more western, moving from central Texas to the Dakotas, but concentrated in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. Notably absent from this belt, however, is the area of Saint Louis, MO, South Texas, New Orleans, LA, and the Cajun Country Region in Louisiana, where Catholicism is predominant.[4]

Hi sedel. Are you kidding. I've lived in Texas most of my life. Born and raised.......It's one of the things we learn at an early age.....Texas IS in the Bible Belt. If you don't believe that - just come check it out........There's a church on almost every corner.......LOL

I lived in the Houston/Katy area for a few months and drove thourgh Beaumont almost every weekend for awhile. I never noticed there were any more churches there than anywhere lese I live. I was always told that the bible belt were the baptist majority states.

Well sedel, I have to admit - - - it's been a few years since I was young and a few more since I've heard that statement.
Years ago,,,,,Texas was considered to be Baptist majority. I'm sure things have changed since then with the number of other religions migrating into the area.
Anyway - for the most part - Texas was always considered a part of the Bible Belt. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

I live in Texas and we have at least one church on almost every street in my area. Almost all of these churches are Baptist too. I think Texas should be considered part of the Bible Belt since so many psychos go around preaching to everyone who isn't part of their denomination.

I really don't think Texas is near the Bible belt either. I think it is the mid area also.
