All I Needed to Hear from Huckabee

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than trying to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family." http://youtube.com/watch?v=onHkywYc_1M
Do we really need to know anything more about Mike Huckabee?
You all know I'm a very religious person. I strongly believe that Our Heavenly Father inspired our Founding Fathers to create our nation. I believe that the U.S. Constitution is a document that was written by men, inspired by God. I believe that Our Heavenly Father did this to restore religious freedom to the earth.
I do believe all that, but when I want to petition our Heavenly Father to bless this nation, I do it in prayer, not in the voting booth. Apparently, Mike Huckabee wants to "change the Constitution" to fit his idea of what God wants. Does he want to make the Constitution the blueprint to a theocracy? Heaven Forbid!
If you want a theocracy in the US, that is your right. But Huckabee has now gone from "I might vote for him if he gets the Republican nomination" to, "If he gets the nomination, I just might have to check out what the third parties have to say".

You might check out 3d party candidates?
How about a candidate who would do these things?
1) Put all Federal Employess under the social security system, just like everyone else.
2) All previously collected Federal retirement funds to placed in the social security funds.
3) All already retired Federal employees (especially Congressmen & Senators) have their retirement programs canceled and replaced with social security payments.
4) Reduction in pay & benefits of all Federal Employees to help balance the budget. Notice this is never suggested?
5) Build the fence.
6) Authorize the shooting on sight of unescorted uniformed Mexican Military here in the USA by any citizen.
7) Citizens owning property on the US - Mexican border be allowed to enforce NO TRESSPASSING with lethal force.
I'm sure I could come up with a lot more, but these will do for a start. I believe most of the above proposals would be supported by a large number of Americans, yet no one talks about most of them.

Actually, I disagree with you on the Social Security thing. I don't want to see more people put into it, I want to see it privatized... but yeah, government employees should be part of the private system.
The rest would be refreshing to hear from a candidate. I agree.

Modestah, oh yeah, I disagree with that too, changing the retirement after the fact would be slimy.

I absolutely disagree, if I am reading it right, on the conversion of retirement to social security funds. This retirement was earned by the workers and was part of the agreement - most everyone can get social security and one person's well earned retirement should not be confiscated to it. this sounds too much like atheistic communism to me.

That is the basis of religious freedom is it not? Huckabee wants the Constitution changed to fit his idea what what God wants. I guess him and the founding fathers are at odds here. ;~D

Ya know I was leaning towards Huckabee too until I saw this piece. I don't think we need to change the constatution we just need to start following it closer. The fellas that wrote it in the first place were Godly men. Now I'm having to start looking all over again to find someone to vote for.

Anyone with a lick of sense can read the lie in Huckabee's eyes. He's just another false profit milking God's name for all it's worth. He has a history of wanting to segregate "undesirables" like HIV positive individuals.
This guy is a joke and that's why "they" are pushing him...because he is a JOKE and their first joke, ole Rudy, has too many scandals in his closet that are coming to light. Notice they stopped pushing Giuliani as they began to push Huckabee.
This country would be so much better off if everyone turned of their televisions and began thinking for themselves.

True, they did start pushing Huckabee when Guiliani didn't pan out. It's getting to the point that you can tell the better candidates by how little press they get.

Thank God you feel that way! Huckabee is turning out to be scarier by the day. There are too many issues that face our nation to say we should amend the Constitution to God's standards. As you know, I'm a Democrat and Im pretty liberal in some ways but that doesn't mean I don't know the difference between right and wrong or that I don't know how to treat others or my family. Anyone who knows me or my family know that we're all about each other, family is everything and we all believe in treating others and doing whatever we can to help them. But the Constitution as amended by Huckabee wouldn't stop there. He doesn't know anymore about what God wants for this country or its people than you or I do but he's made enough off the wall comments throughout his political career to cause me some great concern.

Yes, I thank God I'm for religious freedom also. ;~D
I agree, family is very important and should be protected, but until Our Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ comes down to run things, I won't support any move to make the US a theocracy.
