These days my husband had a small accident at home. When he fried a fish, the hot oil aplashed onto his left arm. We don't know how bad it would be since it just get red and my husband feeled uncomfortable. So my husband put some tooth paste on the wounded area. We feeled like to put some ice but were afraid that it would get wet and induce infection. Things seemed not so bad at that evening. However, the next morning when we got up, we found many skin spots expand. And one of the spots broken. So we had to go to the hospital. The doctor told us we should have put ice to cool his arm. Poor man! My husband now can't do any thing with his left arm.

when I was younger I would always lean over and stair into the microwave when the food was cooking. My parents would always say that i was damageing my eyes when I was doing that.Could this be true, i figured all the micro-waves were traped inside the microwave.Get hurted is very common while cooking, practice reduces the count. As cooking deals with fire and knife being cautious is good for us.

I am sorry! Before we got married, my husband hurt his fingers. He wanted a snack. He chose Pop tarts. Harmless right,WRONG. He went to retrieve them from the toaster and really burned his fingers. He doesn't eat pop tarts that often anymore.

Yeah, I have been hurt in cooking but not that often. In fact it is very seldom for me to get hurt while in kitchen. I guess, I already get used with cooking and I can predict things which might be happen if I did some mistake or loss concentrate. The last burnt due to hot oil was very long time ago but the cut due to kitchen work is about 3 weeks ago but not that serious. I just got my right hand finger cut it's skin, but my spouse as very concern about it so he bought me something to cover with.

Wow! That sounds painful. I work in catering and can tell you that if you get a really bad burn you should wrap cling wrap around it. The reason for this is because otherwise the burn will lose all moisture. Luckily we done this to my sister when she had a terrible terrible steam burn and it didn't scar even although she had to get hospital treatment. A few years ago my Mum had a terrible accident with a deep fat fryer and ended up with her arms bandaged and they were seeping. Terrible!

that must have been a serious burn. I often burn myself on my arm or hands when getting things out of the oven - touching another rack accidently. my worst cooking scare though was when a sweater I was wearing caught on fire. it was newly purchased and the flame from the stove leaped out at me attracted to some finish on the yarn. I returned the singed sweater the next day.

I am constantly burning myself in the kitchen. I used to manage a fast food joint and I burned myself there all the time too. Once I stuck my pinky finger on a 500 degree surface. I burned myself with hot oil on almost a daily basis. Once I actually stuck my whole hand in the fryer. Dumb I know, but I had dropped a piece of paper in there and instinctively reached in and grabbed it out. For burns I always just stuck my hand in some hot water and went back to work. It usually blistered like crazy, but I had work to do, so I had to deal with it. I even cut myself with a pair of scissors once while opening a bag of lettuce at work.

One time I ws cooking and oil splashed right into my eyeball. I didnt have to to ER, but it was pretty painfull at first. I had a cold water from shower head for about 10 mintues. My eye was red and I really thought I wouldn't be able to see anything at all with it, but Thanks you Dear Lord, I can see! I work in the hospital and working in ER a lot, so I do know you must put ice when you have the same type of burns as your husband has. First aid cream would help as well, but the main thing is ice
