I am such a klutz!

I was in the shower this morning and wanted to get something out of the cabinet. So I tried to step out and get it. I don't know how I did it, but I slipped. I whacked my left side so hard against the side of the tub that I saw stars. It hurts to breathe or move. I am pretty sure I cracked a rib or two. It has been a couple of hours now, but I am afraid to go look in the mirror to see if I have developed a bruise. I am just such a klutz! A few months ago I fell off a ladder and hurt my ankle pretty badly. I just can't seem to go for very long without hurting myself. Is anyone else like that?

I really don't think you r are a klutz at all. You were simply tring to multi-task and got hurt because your feet were wet. I think that some things are just meant to happen no matter how careful we are. I hope you are okay and feel better soon.

Thank you all for your nice words and thoughts. I finally feel much better. I didn't get an x-ray though. I talked to the nurse practitioner at work and she said an x-ray would not be helpful. A few times, I flopped down on the bed funny and exacerbated the pain. About 2 days after the last day I noticed pain, I flopped on the bed and the plastic nose on my bear hit the exact previously sore spot. It only hurt overnight that time.

Your welcome. I hope you are feeling much better now. I know that I stay in a hurry alot of times and have been very lucky not to get hurt worse than what I do. It drives me crazy but I am always running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get everything done every day. There is just no time to slow down.

I don't EVEN have to do ANYTHING to get hurt! I think the finger may be arthritus (the doctor is sending me for xrays.) The dog jumped on the bed, not realizing that *I* was in her landing spot! Thanfully shes so afraid of me that she managed to shift so that she miss most of me, just a small bruise on my upper arm. Heck, I can walk across the room & hit something (and not in one of the over crowded spaces either) and get a bruise. I don't KNOW why my ankle is hurting - granted it is the one I hurt so badly in the early 1990's that I wore an "air cast" for several months, but I hadn't done anything to it recently. I'm just limping away on it tho.... Granted, nothing as bad as has happened to you, but not trying to do anything at all, laying in bed even! I hope you get to the doctor/hospital with that possibly broken rib, those are nothing to sneeze at - in fact, a friend RE-broke some ribs sneezing once.

My husband is going to look at my side when he gets home. I just looked in the mirror and could only see a red mark.

I don't think your a klutz as both cases are prone to injury. It is amazing how many people slip and hurt themselves in bathrooms and ladders so don't be down on yourself. I do suggest that you go and see a doctor just to be on the safe side, once I hurt one of my fingers while doing sports and I thought it was just a sprain so I just soaked it in salty water and taped it myself. It took forever to heal. When talking to a friend later she said that she had had the same injury and had gone to the doctor he had given her a anti-inflammatory, and taped it properly, hers was fine in a few days, whereas mine took weeks until there was no pain. I do not like going to doctors but the sooner you go the faster you heal. I hope that you get well soon.

Owie! I've certainly had my moments, and am afraid to take a walk by myself - not because I fear being attacked but because I fear falling down and having to crawl back home on the long dirty gravel road!

We all have moments like this. Sounds pretty bad. Maybe you should see a dr. Our steps to the downstairs are pretty dark. we have a black cat. I didn't see her. I was 1/2 way down the stairs when I stepped on her. I fell the rest of the way down. Luckily didn't break anything. But I did hurt my back and missed several days of work. Now I work at home.

I am not like that as i am VERY cautious about everything i do, maybe cause i USED to hurt myself a lot. uBut my hubby is pretty clumbsy and so is his son lol. His mom is always cutting herself or burning herself or getting into car accidents. wow. she seems to have the worst of luck like you! I hope that you are ok and not in too much pain, i recall you have said you are a nurse, so you can gauge weather you hav to go to the doctor or not to get looked at. If your intuition is telling you to go though, you better go.

I wouldn't blame this on being a klutz. I would blame it on being slippery because of being wet. If your breathing gets worse you should go see a doctor. I think everyone slips now and then. I slipped on our stairs last week and tweaked my knee. I blamed on my pants being to long. Hope you heal fast.

OUch! You should walk around with some caution taped wrapped around your waist! I stumble a lot but have so far managed to catch myself. Maybe your equilibrium is a little off, unconciously pushing your balance out of whack!
