How many of you dear souls, out there, are prepared for any form of disaster? Power outages for long periods of time, flood, earthquake, fire? I live on a small island off the coast of B.C. Two summers ago, we had a major fire that threatened the entire island, no ferries could come to the Island, homes were evacuated & most people lived in emergency centres. I was not prepared. NOW I am! Are you prepared & how?

I live in a small island in the mediterranean sea. I have never experienced a major or even a minor disaster. To be honest I would doubt that my country would be prepared for something like this on a big scale. To be honest I have never thought about this subject. I have been accustomed to go to the nearest store and find everything that I need. I do not store even groceries because distances are so short.

Our provincial government has a program set up in every area of the province, called Provincial Emergency Program...and there is a "fund" set aside for every form of disaster. In each community, each neighborhood, we have a PEP Director, whom holds quarterly neighborhood meetings! All assets that would assist in case of a disaster are catalogued (if you wish)items such as;cell phones, chainsaws, vehicles with 4-wheel drive, boats....you name it, anything that could aide in a disaster situation! It really is a good program, and I think necessary in all parts of the world...as we never know when disaster will strike! If you care to know more about this, PM me and I will get some documented info off to you!
