My friend just started on mylot and thinks her grammar is not good while she is very intelligent and has a masters degree in economics. Should she be concerned? I tell her that she will learn English by being on mylot. Do you judge people when they use poor grammar?

Why of course! True, no one is perfect(myself included) but you should have a basic command of your native tongue. I am constantly amazed and horrified at the number of people who are awarded COLLEGE DEGREES who make grammatical and spelling errors my six-year-old would not make. That is just shameful in my opinion. It says a lot about their upbringing, education, and professional aspirations.

Nope. As long as I can understand what they are saying, it should be fine with me.

Grammar is mostly just habit. It is what you have heard and seen. Many intelligent people deliberately talk down, so you cannot judge a person by what they say. Your friend will see lots of good grammar, and lots of poor grammar. No,I do not judge people by their grammar.
