which do you prefer... food prepared from home or food from a restaurant?

since mylot member here have different lifestyles, this question came out of my mind... maybe some of you are too busy that is why you prefer to eat in a restaurant or simply buy it then eat it in your home... or you're always in the comfort of your home (like me since i am in online writing, which is a source of my income) that's why you choose to eat a homemade food inside your home? well in my case, i prefer both... of course homemade food is still the best however i tend to find something different from the usually prepared food from our home so i tend to eat in a restaurant or simply buy food and share with my family... share your thoughts about it... happy posting...

I prefer food cooked from home because I know it's clean. But sometimes, you cannot avoid eating out sometimes. Do you cook for your family? If you do, congratulations!!

I like both. Sometime we buy food from restaurant but most of the time we cook ourself since it will be much more cheaper.

hi nyumix... i usually eat food from our home since i'm always here in our home but less time for self and family.... that is because i have a lot of projects to do nowadays as an online writer... (but having a lot projects does not occur every time) if i have time. i will be the one who will prepare our menu...if i don't have enough time to do such chore, our housekeeper will do the job... however there are times that i want to try something different than the usual homemade food so that is why i tend to buy food in a restaurant...but i always make sure that the food i bought is at least safe to eat and very tasty thanks for the response and happy posting...

I prefer both since sometimes I can't cook the food that I want too eat. Right now, I'd rather eat home because I just suffered from gastroenteritis to make sure that what I am eating is well-prepared. When I eat out, I prefer dining in places where they use disposable items. (fine-dining is expensive so here in the Philippines, we would always go to Jollibee, Mc Do, etc when we dine out.)

Another reason why I hate cooking, everybody jumps up from the table and leaves me with the clean-up. :( I hate washing dishes.

hello and welcome to mylot...how's your gastroenteritis? do you experience anything discomfort or pain right now? i know you will be just fine... all you need to do is self discipline..you also need to take food supplements and proper medicines... using disposable items makes us sure that those items are clean... another thing is ... i am also here in the Philippines.... in terms of fast food i usually prefer KFC, Mac Donalds, Tokyo tokyo, chowking and Red Ribbon --especially their pancit palabok.... take care of yourself ok... thanks for the response and happy mylotting

I still suffer pain sometimes and I am prone to gastritis so I really have to avoid fatty and acidic food but who and what can stop me eating from craving for balot, chicharon and isaw with spicy vinegar right? When my craving is so strong, I really can't stop myself...

Eating at Restaurant is a goodchange. You may have some good change of taste and you can try some new and different types of dishes ! Some restaurants are specia;ised in some type of special dishes and it is always a good way to try these specialities at such places! I think in Our country we have the dishes prepared i restarant a bit more spicy ! And again being a big country with many states , each having its own way of preparing the disheswe have many types of dishes available in restaurant and thesedishes are really nice for a change! As there isan old adage that there is no best food than your staple food which may be a simple type of food! For me I like to have home made simple food which not only keeps my digestive system clean but also gives me the sense of satisfaction! This I realised after returning back from vacation where we eat a lot out side and very soon we get bored with this type of food and start missing your home food and start craving for the ame! Having nice simple home made food after such intances makes you realise that how important is our home made foods are! I like restaurant foodsfor change and prefer to stick to my home made food as to have my staple food! Thanks it ws a good discussion and I enjoyed participating in it !

Here, another thing to consider is that portions at restaurants are rather large. We tend to eat more when we eat out. But then when I eat my own homemade food, I find myself hungry an hour later. I can't win.... LOL!

I love to cook- so I would choose cooking over going out 4 out of five times a week. Although I do have a favorite restaurant that serves the food that I love to cook myself at home- so sometimes I will opt for that instead- just to spend more time with the family instead of in the kitchen :)

I would have to say I like both. I do enjoy cooking a big meal for my family and enjoy watching them eat the big meal but there are times when I enjoy the break from cooking and going out for foods that I can't cook or that I haven't yet received recipes for. LOL!!! It has been a while since we have been out to eat and that has been more of a financial reasoning rather than a choice right now. But next pay I'm expecting us all to go out and eat and have a nice dinner. LOL!!

Hello, neena!well,i prefer always a home cooked food.i do not like to eat outside as it is not good for health.but these days the food style of most of the people of all ages are fast changing.specially the younger generation are more inclined to the junk food habits which results adverse effect to the health.despite all engagements i spare some time daily to prepare foods along with my wife of our own choice and derive much pleasure.this also enhances our relationship.thank you.all the best.

I really wish I had the energy to cook every day. With my illness, I don't. And my fussy family drives me crazy. There will be a day like last night, no dinner prepared and everyone looking for something to eat; or a day where DH decides to go to the gym after work, DD has Taekwondo, other one has a birthday party... and I just decide not to cook. Then there are the days when I DO cook and then everyone's schedules scramble and I find myself eating alone. Or the days when the food doesn't taste just right. I think everyone would rather eat someone else's cooking whether it be in a restaurant, someone else in the house, or dear old Mom. Someone else's cooking usually tastes better than your own, so people say. I hate spending money eating out but sometimes I like to eat out. DH and I have our special lunches alone together when the girls are in school and he is on a day off during the week. We go out to a restaurant and I don't usually try something different. I have and been disappointed so I kind of stick to what I know will be good. One of the things we do sometimes for lack of time (like on soccer night), I will run to the deli counter at the grocery store and pick up a prepared roasted chicken and some potato wedges, maybe a pasta salad. We can be sure the chicken will be delicious and it is cheaper to buy the chicken cooked than to buy a whole uncooked chicken. We have McDonald's once a week, order pizza occasionally and once in awhile pick up fish and chips. Otherwise, scrounge around and find something to eat if I'm not cooking!

hi yurii.. of course anyone will tend to miss homemade food especially if you're tired of foods that are bought from a restaurant... when i was in high school, i rarely eat foods from a restaurant, i usually tend to eat homemade since my mother (when she was still alive) always cooks for us...but during dinner and if i dont have much homework, i am the one who will be designated to prepare dinner thanks for the response and happy posting...

a good home cooked meal is actually healthier than to go out to a restaurant because with the home cook meal you know exactly what ingredients you are putting into what you are making.. in a restaurant it is different.. you dont know if they dropped your food and put it back on the grill.. you dont know that..when u have a nice home cook meal u know whats going on @ all times.. if you have a family you all can sit down @ the table and eat and talk about the day u just experienced.. you can do that @ the restaurant as well but people will be around there to listen to your conversations because there nosy as usual lol.. so its best to stay home and make a home cooked meal instead of spending money @ a restaurant. your home.. your safe.. your comfortable.. and noone will be in your business besides you and your family..

I disagree, you may be able to see thru the window, how your meal is being prepared, but you did not witness the food handling. I have worked in enough kitchens to see some of the food control issues that are totally unhealthy.FOOD STORAGE (properly) is more of a health issue than cooking.

i prefer to eat in a restaurant. but because of the difference in price with home cooked meals, i sometimes buy those marinated meat in the groceries and cook at home. we ourselves own a small restaurant so we know the high cost in maintaining one..

its a small chinese restaurant, but we had it in a wrong location. foot traffic is good, but it is only now that we realized that you should be in an area that is not traffic and should have lots of parking space..

I would go for something prepared at home. Nothing comes more safe and sure with the food prepared at home. I am too busy during the weekdays for work and I eat at restaurants but if I can get home for a while to eat, I will.

Food in restaurants is always well prepared and appeared in a good shape, while family members who prepare the food for others may not pay so much attention on it. But to make money, the restaurants will not give many materials on one dish, while your food made by home are always full of your likes. So if I can have enough time to prepare food by myself, I would like to have the food made in home.

good morning **here in the Philippines it is 12:52 a.m. =)** i have a friend who is chef-to-be... he tends to eat out because he want to try out something new so that he would be able to conceptualize it for his own restaurant.... oh that friend of mine is a restaurant owner... although he is not the chef of his restaurant he can suggest some ideas to the chef since he is one of the owners... it's a family owned business have a great day

Definitely food prepared in my own home is preferable for me. There are certain restaurants that are locally owned where I am confident not just that they are clean but that they are using quality ingredients. Other than that, I prefer to eat at home where I know just what kind of ingredients I have used. There are so many preservatives and other chemicals in food that it's scary. I really want better for me and my family. That being said, I don't mind going to other restaurants or other peoples homes sometimes, I just try to keep it healthy the majority of the time.

I like to eat out alot when i have the money though. I like to cook though but only if its a new recipe. I like to go out to eat to chinese places. I love orange chicken. I plan on trying to cook my own orange chicken sometimes this week. Hopefully it turns out ok so When i dont have the money to eat out and have craving for orange chicken I can still tend to my craving.

I like food prepared at home and food prepared at restaurants. I am a good cook, but I am not that fancy, so to me eating at a restaurant where they can make these complicated dishes is a good change. We are on a budget so we cannot go and make elaborate dishes or spend money on other ingredients. So the home cooking is ordinary. If I had taken a chef's cook and had more time, I would but right now I need every cent I can lay my hands on.
