How has your star/number rating on mylot been lately?

How is your star rating doing? - star rating
United States
January 29, 2008 8:19pm CST
I finally went up one from the 97 that I went down to for months to a 98! I was at 99 for the longest time and then there was a troll around and that ended that. It seems to be pretty quiet around here lately and I haven't seen any discussions with members complaining about their star rating falling and people giving out minuses for no reason. Have you noticed that? It's been so nice hasn't it? How has your star rating been recently? Has it changed and you've lost points for some reason or are you staying about the same?

Every time I see my red star, I call it my yoyo because it goes up and it comes down then it goes up again and back down again. I'm not in the least worried about it because, afterall, it's just a number for someone to target. So just let it roll of your back like I do because there's no way to beat the system.

I actually forgot what color my star was as I was reading your response and had to check it...lol. I think I've been blue for quite a long time now and it seems to be just the numbers that change.

Mine has stayed the same. I don't think I'll ever get better than 98, but that's OK.

I wonder if anyone has been at 100/100? I bet the answer is no!

Mine is staying about the same here lately. I think it's 98 right now.

My star reputation has been staying the same for the past few months. It did go down 1 point to a 97/100 last month (I guess someone disagreed with me on something and hit the "-" button), but it went back to 98/100 the following day. I just got someone PO'd with me on a discussion I replied to yesterday (they misunderstood what I wrote) and I have no doubt my star will be affected by this. But there is nothing I can do about it, so I'll just keep posting like I've been doing and hope for the best. :)

Don't you just love the people who disagree with us and give us a minus? How childish that is. Just keep on posting and eventually you will get back to where you belong.

I have been the same since I have reached 500 postings but so far I have not been affected negatively.

I almost never check it. I do not know what it is at, it is still not high enough to get me back to blue. I do feel that I have other things to discuss, so I do not complain. It did originally come as a shock to me to be that low. I think the more posts you have the longer it takes you to come up. Or go down.

I seldom even know what mine is but I have noticed that the color seems to stay the same even if the numbers do change. I don't think we will ever know how the whole star system works any way.

I have never really taken much notice of the star ratings and to tell you the truth I really don't know what it means and what the percentages mean. Anyone care to enlighten me?

It all has to do with how members are rating you. The more minuses you get the lower your number goes. That's where the "trolls" come in and if they decide they don't like you or what you have to say they will give you a lot of them making your rating go down.

it seems to be pretty consistent, I got to thinking not many people use the rating system anymore.

Using the rating system is something that we are supposed to do if we are going to follow the guidelines here. If people stop who knows what will happen to mylot and I don't want to see it go down the tubes.

I have to admit, ctry, that I rerely even give my star rating a second thought. I guess it's just not that important once I learned that people can rate you unfavorably. That fact certainly took away some of the sense of accomplishment fro me. I just come here and do my job in the best way that I know how, and let the chips fall where they may.

We can't let "them" know they are getting to us by feeling that way. You are doing the best thing by just doing what you do and forget about those who have the need to act like children!

I went and checked my rating just for this discussion. I have 92/100, it is higher than when I first started out but I have no idea if it has been going up or down recently. Every few days I check to see if I still have a red star but that is usually it. I just post away, I forget to check my rating level.

Sorry for the late reply. Been busy this two days. Point your cursor to the star and you can see the rating of ?/100.

My star rating has been 98 for quite awhile now. It started out at 95 then it kept raising and has been at 98 for a long time. I have not seen anyone complain about their star going down for quite awhile now. It is nice to see everyone acting mature and not rating negatives for no reason.

I'm beginning to think it has to do with the group of friends we have. I noticed a discussion where everyone was complaining about deleted discussions and rating going down and I didn't recognize any of the people in the discussion.

I was a 20 yesterday. I'm a 21 today. I'm going up in the world. Personally I don't care about the star. I don't care if it goes up or goes down. I don't care if it goes away. It's a popularity contest here and if you cross the wrong people or say the wrong things, your star will fall. It's childish, but myLot is too busy ignoring all of this and suspending the users on here who don't deserve to be suspended to pay attention to the rest of the trolls who are the culprits behind the falling stars. I come here to post and make what little bit of money I make here. It's almost not worth it anymore as I make more money at another site for less effort, but I have made several friends here and mainly stick around for them. To heck with the stars.

since I have no life..lol...I've been doing some checking around here and it seems like there are "groups" of friends and only certain groups have this problem. I personally don't pay much attention to my star or the number rating under it either but was curious and the responses to this discussion have proved my point. It's all in who your friends are.

I used to have a star rating of 99/100 and then someone decided they didn't like me and started giving me a lot of negatives. In one 24 hour period my rating dropped down to a 77. I found this really hard to accept and I checked to see if maybe one of my discussions got deleted and mylot docked me. But no that did not happen. So I emailed mylot and asked them how this could happen and they said I must have gotten a lot of negative ratings that day. Well, in my mind I would have had to get a whole lot for my rating to drop that far. Anyways, I am slowly working it back up and I now have a 94 rating. I hope to get it back to a 99 rating again, but it is taking so long. I think a lot of people just don't rate at all and that is why it is taking so long to work it up again. It has taken me 2 months to get it up to a 94.
