Warning

Recently we've heard about the rebates that we will receive next summer. Something everyone needs to know is the IRS will never send an email asking questions regarding your vital information. The IRS doesn't send emails. Beware of this scam as it's already targeting the internet. Just a bit of warning to everyone.

Great advice dear these things are always going around but in a case like this it's sure to bring out even more dishonest people.

I'm really surprised that only 3 people read this post. Hmmm, not sure what to think. The emails have started already and am certain phone calls will be next. It is so sad to target some of the older folks which is where it has started in our area. Actually, it's pitiful. Thanks for responding.

Yes they do seem to attach the most volnerable first but that goes to show you just how low these people are. I wouldn't worry about the number of people responding - first of all this doesn't effect everyone at the moment (only US members) and it's Friday - it always seems to be slower here on Fri, Sat, Sun. Guess some people really do have lives outside the internet :) unlike me :(

We don't qualify for the rebate. You are right about having a life outside myLot. People are busy on the weekends. What was I thinking!

I have heard about this also. I never give out my personal information online to emails or websites that I do not trust. This is a very good discussion to let others know also. We have to be so careful online.

People are beginning to make phone calls too. It's all a scam since the IRS won't call anyone's house either. They conduct buiness by contacting consumers certified USPS. Thanks for responding.

That is what I do also. I report and delete the emails when I get them. I forward to the appropriare sites also that they are representing.

I'm with you steph - I don't give out my information unless I've really checked them out to make sure it's not a scam. If someone e-mails me asking for information I report them to the business they are representing themselves to be such as the IRS and PayPal.

It is really sad that people are so desperate. I'm sure the phone calls started the minute that the talk of potential rebates started. I never give out information over the phone, that is just plain silly. I feel bad for those like some of the elderly who don't know any better and who are so trusting.

The minute someone mentions they are from the IRS or representing the IRS, people will listen. It's sad some people have to go this direction in life in order to make money. Thanks for responding.

Don't you ever wonder why people with enough brains and knowledge of computers waste their time thinking up ways to destroy other peoples lives just for a quick buck? Just think of all they could do that was beneficial if they took their knowledge and put it to good use! Thanks for the alert Carol!

Yes, it's pitiful. There are just too many that want the extra bucks and quicl. Maybe they don't have time to work a 40 hour week away from the computer and make an honest living. Thanks for responding.

Yes, the news finally reported this in my area. If you get any scams in writing by mail, my Post Master has asked me to bring them to her so she can have them investigated by the Post Master General. I must be on some patsy list because I seem to get every scam running in my mailbox. You warned people faster than our local news. Take care

I have an inside source who is very reliable, my husband. As soon as he mentioned the scams that are starting in our area, I posted the warning here. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the warning, also make sure you are getting one of those rebates. There are a lot of rules on actually getting this money. I will find the link and send it to you. Aingealicia

We don't qualify for a rebate. Also be careful of any calls from someone who claims they representing the IRS. Scams out there already. Thanks for responding.
