Hey all~ so here's one for us all...I have had rsd for over 4 years now and have recently started some nerve block treatment. the first one made me sick, well I also had an mri and thats what did me in the most. it was helpful enough to go in for the 2nd (of 5 scheduled) the 2nd didn't go as well (as far as helping) on the table, partway thru the injection on the left side, the pressure rose to such high levels i vomited. we had to pull the needle out as quickly (and safely) as possible. it's a good thing that the dr. and his team are good, else i could have had a ruptured disc :S needless to say this has made me think. the first one: decent in help yet sick. the second one: not good in helping my pain, not sick is it worth going in for the 3rd scheduled one? dose anyone else have any experiance that i could benefit from here? anything??? ~j

My mother has been having nerve blocks. She gets so many ,it's scary. She says they help, but I have noticed she is beginning to rely on them. She hasn't ever gotten sick from them,I notice they help her get around for maybe a day or two, then it's back to bed.So are they worth it? I would do some research before continuing with the blocks.I can't see where they help all that much, but then again, I am not the one in pain either. oh one more thing, I have inquired about these blocks to a cpl doctors, neither specialized in RSD,but I thought they would give me an unbiased answer given that fact. Both said that the amount my mother is getting is actually detrimental to her health. That one day they won't work and the pain will actually be much higher than it was in the beginning.

I see it has been several months since someone has posted....I have just started comming back on mylot after a 1 year hiatus...I have had RSD for over 20 years and have had 8 Stalite Ganglion nerve blocks, 12 Lumbar blocks, 6 Cervical Blocks, and many more.....all failed. I however have had 4 good years of remission or low pain lvl and now out of remission I am to far advanced for many professional pain clinics to help. I am now working of alternative treatments and have found 3 that are keep my pain in check. One that is key to me is meditation. A type I use is EMDR is is a meditation like no other... http://www.overcomingpain.com/emdr.html
