Do you take your rings off....

When you put hand lotion on? Or when you do the dishes? What about before you go to bed? I know that you "should" take your rings off when you put hand lotion on to protect them, but at the same time you should NEVER take off your wedding rings. Same thing with doing dishes, you aren't supposed to wear your rings while doing the dishes... Do you do these? I normally - but not always - take all my rings off when I put lotion on. I only wear three rings - wedding, engagement and a mother's ring - so it's not like it's a big deal to do. When I do the dishes or sleep, I usually take the mother's ring off. Then I have ring that I only wear every now and then and not on a normal basis... Do you leave all your rings on or do you take them off?

I have water retention so I take my wedding ring off at night. I had a child out of wedlock and since I never bore one after marriage, I hoped that by not wearing my wedding ring = well I do hope that God did not think I meant "I do not want to bear another child," when I said I do not want this to happen again. I meant in all honestly "I do not want to bear another child out of wedlock." but I should have been more specific but I thought -- Sometimes I wear my ring at night, but it becomes tight and then I have to soak my hand in water or the top of my finger will turn blue. I already had it resized one and do not want to do it again. I do take it off when I put on hand lotion. I keep my rings on when doing dishes because with the soapy water, it is not too tight. I find when there is moisture in the air, that my wedding ring is less tight, or maybe it is the atmosphere here in Manitoba.

I remember when I was pregnant with my 2nd son - MANY years ago - I had to take off my rings because my fingers were too swollen. Sometimes in the summer they are too tight, but I still leave the wedding rings on. They aren't as bad for me.

Sometimes I can put my ring on easy, but other times, I have to use hand lotion, so I guess it could be the dry air in the winter and the atmospheric pressure. Well that is understandable, people here in the Canadian prairies tend to gain weight in the winter and it is not all eating too much, a lot of it is water retention. I was wondering whether I should take finger exercises.:) Or maybe my bones are growing. :)

Normally, heat makes things expand and cold makes them get smaller - even us. With the winter though, I do think we all put on a few extra layers of fat, sometimes our bodies still do what they've done for centuries even if we don't want them to!

I usually leave my rings on, I only have two that I wear, one a silver band on my right hand, and one ring on my left hand, I'm not married. I only wear my rings for about 4 months a year, I take them off during the months I'm working since I am a wildland firefighter for the forestry service.

My first husband didn't wear his often because he said that he was afraid it'd get stuck at work - he cleaned restaraunts then later was a chimney sweep. It can be dangerous!

Right now I only wear my wedding band and engagement ring. I do go through phases when I wear multiple rings. I don't take my rings off the majority if time when I put lotion on, they are going to get lotion on them anyways when you put them back on. I do take my rings off when I am cooking something messy or if I am doing a messy art project.

You know, now that I think about it, I did take them off while I was painting the house last year. I guess there are a lot of reasons to take them off - if you just sit down and think about it!

I only wear a plain silver wedding band, and I do not take it off. I have gained enough weight it would probably never come off. Any other ring I might wear would be costume quality, and I would take them off before I did anything.

The only time I take the wedding rings off is for lotion (usually) and if I'm cooking something totally messy. I just feel like I'm not "married" if they're not on, so it's only for a few seconds.

You should think about getting it resized. I only lost a stone out of one of mine and was devestated. I'd be mortified if I lost the whole ring. I'd also worry about it if it was too loose...

I always leave my rings and my cross necklace on. I was once told by a jeweler it is good to leave the jewelry on when showering, it keeps them clean. He didn't say anything about hand lotion. I just try not to get much lotion on my ring when I use hand lotion.

I was told a long time ago that lotion will make the rings dull - not really hurt it though. But I do have an opal in one ring and they are supposed to be pretty delecate so I try to take care of that one.

I wear only one ring...my wedding ring and I NEVER take it off...come what may!lol I didn't need to take it off when I was pregnant either. The only times I took it off were when I had to deliver or go in for surgery. I don't take it off on a regular basis...unless I need to clean it....about once in a month.

My jeweler cleans my chain! My ring doesn't have a stone and doesn't really get dirty...it's a plain gold band with my husband's name engraved on it. But my chain does get dirty...and I can't keep taking it off and it's not long enough to slip off. I have to undo the hook and if I do that daily, the gold hook might break...and I don't want that either.

I should clean mine more often. When I see my jeweler, he always gives it a good cleaning for me while we're talking. I try not to get them dirty by taking them off for the lotion or some cooking.

When I put lotion on, I always take my rings off. But I don't take them off when I shower or wash dishes. I don't know why! I just never do. And I don't take them off when I sleep either. I'm afraid I'd forget to put them back on! lol!

I usually do not wear rings so I do not have that problem. I gained to much weight so I stoped wearing my wedding ring. I then lost it.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you lost your wedding ring. When you lose the weight, maybe your husband should buy you a new one as a reward???

I take them off only when i cook and speacialy when i am doing something with meat. When I wash dishes i just leave them on also when i put the lotion. The only thing is liek with meat i don't want to get some bacteria on them or something like that.

Like you I have three rings. My wedding ring, engagement ring and my mothers wedding ring. The only time they ever come off is once a month when I clean them. And then that would only be for about a half hour.... :-)

I leave all my rings on all the time. I did take them off when I worked in the field with my husband at his landscaping business. Other than that, though, they stay on. I wear the same three rings you do, and my diamond in my engagement ring is fairly small so I don't worry about it too much as far as getting in the way, getting dirty, etc. If there is one thing in life materially that defines me it is these three rings. The way I see it they need to be as rough and tough as I am because that is who I am.

Dang, we are just way too much alike... That is soooo funny. Too bad we don't live closer to each other, we could go out for margaritas - and show off our rings :)

Great idea. I would have to go with the strawberry daquri instead of the margarita, though! :)

When I'm home I never wear my rings. My anniversary band is a little big so I'm afraid of losing it. But I always wear my rings when I go out.

I try to remember to wear some of my other rings (or other jewelery even) when I go out, but I usually forget and it's only my "normal" ones that I wear.

I'm do the same. I only wear my "normal" jewelry too. Women are just picky sometimes :)

I must admit that I do not have a consistant policy with my jewelery. HEHE I do take off my rings with I shower/bathe always. But when it comes to lotion or dishes sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I know you are suppose to take them off but I am always afraid of losing it or something happening to it. I would much rather have someone wrong with it because I wore it too much than something happen to it because I took it off.

When I take my rings off to put lotion my boss just cringes. He hates when people take their rings off. Sometimes I do forget, but I try to take them off when they might get messy.

Actually i never take my rings off. All I wear is my wedding set but I never take it off, I just wear gloves when I am cleaning and if I notice that my ring is looking dull from hand cram residue of whatever I just clean it right on my finger with an old toothbrush and some hand soap and warm water.

I do feel awkward taking them off, but I don't like to get them any more messy than necessary. And they're only off for a few seconds so it's not too weird. I would never walk around without them on!

I never ever take my rings off, only because if I do I never remember to put them back on! I should do really because every so often I get terribly sore fingers, and this is because I am washing my hands and drying them, but the rings still hold the wet and so it stays on my fingers and then they get sore!

Well, that's why I don't wear earrings too much any more. I forget to put them on. I can remember when I never took any of my jewelery off - but then it was just earrings and a gold chaing.
