What REALLY Works?

I am sick of trying all these products that promise to help clear up my skin, but so far none have worked for me. I have tried Proactiv, Acne Free, Bella Clear, Clearasil, and probably a couple more. None of those have worked for me. Does anyone have a product that really worked for them? Tell me about ANYTHING please! And please, something that really helped YOU personally. The faster the better, but I want something that really works! Thanks!

I tried a lot of products too but what really works for me is calamsi juice (lemon). I have acne too and to control it and whiten my skin, i put them on my face for 30mins before i sleep and it leaves my skin clearer and whiter.

Do you let lemon slices sit on your face, or you just squeeze the juice out and rub that on your face. You leave it on for 30 minutes and then just wash it off? How fast did it work for you? Thanks

I rub them on my face with the juice and let it sit for 30 mins and then i wash them with hypoallergenic soap. I also put them on some dark spots such as elbows and feet to make them smoot and whiter. its erally effective.

Everyone's skin is not the same. So what works for me, may not work for you. Some skin is oily, some dry, and some is a combination of both. Go and see a Dermatologist and let him reccommend what is best for your skin type.

I shudder whenever I remember how awful my face used to look like. I had major breakouts covering my entire face that my head looked more like a pimple that had a face growing out of it. Ugh! And you can just tell that people were really concerned, as I had complete strangers walking up to me and giving me advices on what products I should use and what methods may be good for me. My face must have been the epitome of acne trouble, the type that should grace textbooks for dermatology students, to have complete strangers approach me and turn into self-professed dermatologist! With that, I said enough with over the counter products--most of them ridiculously priced--that promise to clear your skin in no time. It was time to consult a professional. A choice which I wish I had done sooner. I tried out some of my doctor's topicals for a while, but, when it seemed apparent that there wasn't much change, she prescribed me Acnetrex. I think it's Accutane over there. In less than a month, my face had already cleared. Gotta warn you though, it's really potent, I even had occasional nosebleeds. But it was well worth it for me. Bottomline, better seek out a dermatologist to help you with your acne. It just may be the solution. Good luck!

Well, I have a process that really works well for me. The products aren't that hard to find or that expensive either. What I do is get a washrag as hot as I can stand it, and then put it on my face to open the pores. After letting that sit on my face for a minute or two, then I put Noxema on my face. I let that sit for about five minutes, or however long it takes me to brush my teeth. I take that same warm rag and clean the cream off, then I take some of Queen Helene's Mint Julep masque, and put that on my face. I let that harden, taking about 15-20 minutes. That pulls anything that is deep down in your pores out when it hardens. Once I feel it has hardened sufficiently (Some cases I leave it on overnight) I wipe that off with a cold washrag. I want to close the pores back up at this point. Then I take a pore cleanser (little hand-held vacuum I found at Dollar Tree) and go over my face with that. Those with lighter skin than I may want to wait until the face is completely dry, because this little machine can bruise wet skin. Then I put on a light moisturizer. This keeps my face pretty clear. You just reminded me, I haven't done that one in a while. Maybe I'll do that tonight....

Queen Helene is a major national brand that works wonders. I don't know why it isn't more widespread. I discovered it at Family Dollar here in the Midwest region, but I've also seen it at Kroger grocery store. It usually runs about 2.50. Also the pore cleanser vacuum thingy you can usually find at any dollar store. Like Dollar Tree, 99 cent center, or whatever variation you may have where you live. You will only be out of about $10 altogether if you were to buy everything at once. Oh, and I thought I did explain it, but I do use cold water washrags to close the pores.

Wow! That is quite the process! And I've never heard of some of those products! I'll have to look them up. To close the pores when you're done, couldn't you also put a cold washrag on your face for a minute? =P Thanks for the great suggestion!

Pores are made to bring skin oil to the surface of the skin and protect it from dehydration. Using products that dry out your skin close the pores and keep them from doing what they were supposed to do. Stress, and diet can also cause acne. I have done an apple fast that helped more than anything I have done before. It drastically reduced and helped to heal my acne in 3 days. What I did was I ate nothing but apples for 3 days straight, and drank lots and lots of water. Fasting like this is designed to clean out your body of toxins. Apples contain pectin which absorb toxins. Every night of those three days you have to give yourself an enema (it cleans out your colon). I know it's kind of weird, but I was so frustrated with my acne I was willing to do anything, and this 3 day program worked very well. Eat only apples and drink only water for 3 days, and give yourself an enema every night. It worked great for my skin! Theres a little more to it, so if you are interested in trying this out, message me, and I'll tell you the rest.

Although I do not have this problem any longer - I did when I was a teen - I know of a great product that works. It's called Zap-it from Melalueca. It's got the natural ingredients in it, espeically tea-tree oil. I know of people who say it does work great. I wish I had known about it when my son was a teen because we ended up putting him on Acutaine - which worked but may have caused some long-term damage to kidneys and stuff. It's a very dangerous prescription and wish we had had a natural alternative at the time.

After going through the long discussions about this post I found out that the various treatments suggested by the members are related with skin only. many a times such external treatment provides immediate results but they are not long lasting, i.e. they recur again fater some time. When they come back the previous treatment do not work always. This indicates that the problem is not in the skin but somewhere inside the body. Now a days the psychological factors palys an important role in such conditions. Try to find out such causes in you and try to overcome it so that the acnes will disappear permanently.

I will say natural things always work but you need to be consistent with them ..!! The most important things that people fail to do is they forget being consistent with the product they are using. You can use some natural fruits that can clear the skin.. like lemon, orange potato... YOu can use milk, milk is the best clenser..!! YOu can even use coconut oil ..yes oil in your face. You do all this when your in home. But remember that you have to be consistent with them. And if the problem with your skin is worse then you must visit a doctor as only he can tell what kind of ointment will help you skin..!! Belive me doctor knows the best. I had a problem with my skin .. in summers because fo the body heat I used to have big big boils in my face. My doctor priscribed me "Safromycin" well this cream helped me lot. I have have a clear skin now.. :)

I use Tea Tree Oil on my breakouts. It works really well for me. It does however smell a little foul, but hey, if it works, it's not bad at all.

Well, if you have tried everything else, it sounds like it is time to check out a dermatologist. My son used to use toothpaste, the plain white stuff and put it on his pimples at night before he went to bed. By morning, the redness and swelling was down.

I too am going threw the same problem. I went to my dem. and she perscibed me dyoxiclyn(not sure on spelling) its a antibiotic that I take in the morning. She also gave me Retin-A to apply yo problemed areas. Then I also use eather and acne soap on my face or I will use organic soap. I find that using them is better then other soaps because there isn't any chemicals in them. Good luck I hope you find what helps you.

I feel your frustration, I had the same problems and it still pops up close to my time of the month. The best thing I ever did was go on birth control, my doctor recommended it to me for a few reasons, I was having horrible cramps that led me to throwing up and I had bad acne. It made everything better, rather than having a cluster of angry pimples, it made them less red or angry looking and vanish altogether. Now I might get a single one here or there on my forehead or chin, but nothing like what it used to be and I stopped using the acne free, clearasil and everything else. Try it. Talk to your doctor about it if you are really concerned about it.

I went to a dermatologist who figured out that I have Rosacea and he wrote a presciption for Metrolgel which cleared things up pretty well (skin cream) and also some tetracyclean (pill). The tetra was only for 2 weeks, the Metrogel is for life. You may need a dematologist or your gynocologist may be of help if your skin problems are caused by hormones. If you tried all those over the counters with no relief, you may need a doctor. Take care and good luck. I know it's frustrating, esp. since my first dermatologist was a quack who said I was going to get warts and moles all over my face and that my skin condition was pre-wart and pre-mole. So you may even need to consult more than one Dr.

I know how you feel, i have the same problem and tell you truth i am tired of people telling me, that i should go to a doctor. I don't have really that bad acne, but still have few pimples on my face. And it really got worse, since i moved here to usa. I think it depends from the food, air and the water. I am not gonna tell you about any product what should help you, becuase what is the worst about acne, every product work differently on each person. But i give you tip on facial mask what is helping me to have smoother face. You just use fresh yeast with few drops of lemon, make a paste from it. Put on your face for 10 minutes and wash with was cloth. Put the mask on your face two times a week. And another tip , if you have bad pimple, put there a crash aspirin with a two, three drops of lemon and apply on pimple. Let there till dry. It was working for me, hope it will for you too.
