If you are looking to start a blog, my advice will be to focus on something of your interest...something you enjoy doing... But please, don't EVER, EVER start a money-making blog...coz its going to be one static promotional page that most people won't want to read about...and you won't even have new things to update everyday....Been there, done that and its a failure... Even a diary blog can attract more traffic than a money-making blog......seriously.
