Do you have plants on your window sill? Are you doing window sill gardening?

I have chives and aloe vera on my window sill. Too bad I don't have more room. I might be able to grow an onion with the amount of room I have left. I only have 1 window in the south that gets enough sun to grow anything. Next year, I may pot up my mint and bring some in for winter. So what's on your window sill?

I have a black thumb - more like a whole hand of black thumbs. I can kill cactus! And if I can't kill it, the cats will take care of it for me.

Oh my goodness! My friends used to buy me flowering plants for indoors. I could kill them in a heartbeat. So I'm no good with flowers, but I do well with other plants. Maybe a purple thumb would be better to say. So your cat is a big help, huh? Mine doesn't care about aloe vera and chives or onions. The mint might be a problem. Take care

There's dirt, the cats love dirt. And I do mean cats, because I have a LOT more than 1

Oh I see. My cat gets dirt outdoors and then comes back in. Funny how he scratches trees outside and I had to get him something inside or we wouldn't have a house left!

I have dirt on the windowsills. Need to clean them...lol Actually, I can't grow anything. Have the worst luck with plants. But, I have a mother-in-law's tongue that has been in the same planter for 36 years. Rarely water it and it continues to live. Was a gift when we had our oldest daughter. It's still in the baby bootie planter. Never did try to repot it since my luck is so bad that I would have killed it.

It's not a very pretty plant. Just long leaves. I believe it was bought at a floral shop. I do have a picture of it somewhere on one of my discussions because I wanted to find out what kind of plant I had growing forever in the kitchen.

36 years, wow! That's cool. What does it look like, never heard of that plant and where is it from? Learn new stuff every day on Mylot.

When we were in our house, I had way too many window sill plants. Spider plants, all kinds of philodendron, pothos, jade plant, polka dot plant, aloe vera, chives, etc, etc, plus a big grapefruit tree started from seed that is now 20 years old. With no window sills now, I now have a bunch of big floor plants. I'm looking forward to warm weather so I can put that jungle out on the patio - those plants are in the WHAT was I thinking category, but I never throw out a plant, ever. I'm hoping for a window sill when we move - I'd love to have just herbs this time.

My Mom had a Spider plant when I was growing up. My cousins had a huge miniature oranger tree in their living room for many years. We had a friend whose entire porch did look like a jungle, so in pieces, I know what you're saying. An all herb one sounds like fun, but so does your jungle. Thanks for responding.

Every spice, herb, imaginable. Keep them going constantly! Also grow mushrooms in my kitchen! A kitchen is so much more than a place for cooking & cleaning, make in an inspiration for your day.

I think I have the smallest kitchen in the world, only one small windowsill and only room for 4 plants. I so-o-o-o envy you!

I have added shelves in my kitchen window. I put 2 extra shelves in each of two windows. Just put a slat at the 1' & 2' level & cut boards to go across. Actually looks nice, too.

We don't have window sills, I would like some but never had the extra money to install them. I do however have plant stands next to the window to put my plants on.. I have a couple of viney plants that I have no idea what they are along with aloe vera and peppermint and spearmint..

I wouldn't put plants on top of the TV, sometimes I don't think and over water and that would be a disaster on top of something electronic, lol.. As for mint indoors, if you have some outside, just dig some up and put into a large pot.. Unfortunately my daughters cat likes the mint, so we don't get as much...:)

You put the pots in plastic containers, then if you over water the plastic container catches it, then you can bring the pot and plastic container to the bathroom or outdoors and dump the extra out if it's going to overflow. We never had a problem with plants on top of the TV.

My Mom had her plants on top of the TV. My Aunt had some really cool plant stands with cactus. Hers looked like a cart, but it had tiers of metal shelves. Some plant stands are really cool. Maybe the viney plants are Ivys, Ivies? I so-o-o-o want mint plants indoors next year. Take care and thank you very much.

I had an aloe, but the puppy finished it off last week... my mints, herbs, etc. are in my tiny greenhouse. All that I have on my windowsills is puppy footprints!

'Greenhouse' may be pushing it... I sectioned off part of the covered part of the front porch! I hang plastic for the winter, and it gets whatever sun happens. I also have a lightbulb in there for sub-zero night... it seems to do the trick!
