Routine state of affairs....dejected.

I have been experiencing this dull monotony of a routine day to day life for the past several months. Nothing seems to change for the better nor does something drastic happen as I figure out in my inner self. What would be the probable reasons for my condition. I would to a great extent assign reasons for my boredom to my uncongenial astrological configuration(may be I am silly and commonplace in my outlook). If all days dawn and evenings set in the same mode with little events happening during day in and day out , would'nt you become frustrated and forlorn?

Like they said... life is what you make out of it. Working is a necessity and a routine if you are in a 9 to 5 job. For most people... it is pretty hard to get out of that routine. So it is important that you create yourself a life outside working hours... consisting of hobbies. Hobbies give you motivation to work and to enjoy life. Hobbies can be anything you fancy doing. The best hobbies are the ones you can do in the privacy of your own home... because they can be done at any hour and any time you feel like it. Spending two hours every night on an hobby will give you a sense of purpose in your life... will relieve the monotony and will make you looking forward to the next day. Hobbies are lifesavers.

It sounds like maybe you are stuck because you are still debating something within your own mind. Maybe you cant take the next step because you are afraid of real change and are clinging to your current life. It always helps me to write down what it is I want to achieve even if its the next week or month or year than spend some time in meditation or prayer about what your goal is. Staying the same place can be worse than falling backwards, there's lessons to be learned when we fall backwards but staying in the same place we learn nothing.

You have to change your routine. If you do the same thing day after day, you will become bored. Do not rely on the stars to set your course, you have to set it yourself. So do something different, vary your routine. If you sit and contemplate your naval or just day dream, you will be in the same place as you were. For instance, you can go a different way to work, walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator, fix things different. These are small things, but they are a start to a fulfilling life.

In a way, yes I'd be frustrated. Nothing new or exciting would be happening. In a way, no I wouldn't be frustrated because I could be thankful that things are going "ok" rather than "awful." Boredom tends to depress me, though. I don't like doing the "same ol', same ol'" things over and over. Monotonous things can really grind on my nerves. I'm all about getting things done, scratching an item off a list once I get it done, having goals in my life, seeing some changes (but not too many), and having exciting events transpire. My advice to you would be to thank the powers that be for allowing you to experience a somewhat nice life thus far. I would also encourage you to "branch out," so to speak, and do some things you wouldn't normally do to make things a little more exciting and colorful for you. Add some variety to your life. Set some goals. Reach those goals. Set some higher goals that are more difficult to reach. You'll feel more accomplished after you execute them. You sound like a very deep thinker. Keep up the good work, my friend.

If I was bored, I would take control and make something happen. Even little changes help. I get downcast when the weather is bad consistantly, like cold and ice for long periods or extended lengths of time of high temperatures. When I am down, dejected, I find getting more sleep and paying attention to other health factors like sleep and fresh air and time off to rest. I wish you luck getting something new into your life.

Man, does it suck to be in a rut. I hate when that happens, but usually I find something else to do that interests me to break the monotony. Good luck with that.

I think you just need to take some time out, look for other fruitful things to do so you can find something different to work out. You can always enjoy the things you used to do, like watching tv/movies, reading and engaging in sports or other extra curricular activities. You shouldn't get frustrated nor bored with your life, you just need to find other outlets to make it worth your time..

I have been doing this for awhile too,and i cannot seem to change things, the worst part is it reminds me of my Mom and step Dad, they use to be this way, just humdrum day accomplishing nothing, and here i am doing the same thing...I really get mad at myself because i know i need to just get up and do something but guess i am just satisfied doing nothing..In my mind i know better but don't seem to have the ump to change things..I have been saying its the weather, and things will get better but i don't think so..It is a beutiful day and here i sit on my computer getting nothing accomplished..I supposs when i get sick enough of it i will do something about it..I am in a state of laziness..Lol

It is not easy for one to become frustrated and forlorn if one is enthusiastic in life. Life itself is mundane and dull. It is we who add colors to it. It is the law of attraction that thoughts become things and the force of attraction is strongest when the energy is most negative. Hence we attract what we do not want - boredom, frustration and forlorn living. May God bless you :)

It is possible to have a down period, but no, I would not become forlorn. Rather I would get out and about and see that there are people in the world much less well off than me and I would see what small thing I might be able to do to help them. I would take a close look at my diet to make sure I was getting the proper nutrients, as prolonged dejection can often be traced to a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Then I would look for something new to learn and/or some new project to do and throw myself completely into the doing of it it until it was finished. There is nothing to bring a person out of the dumps like helping another person or having some accomplishment to show. Lol, usually I am the one seeking a bit more routine and even hoping for a breath of monotony.

"day by day nothing changes then all of a sudden, you look around you and everything is different." Actually, I'd say it is your outlook for everything is constantly changing....it never stops. I have only experienced moments of boredom in my life and so I really can't relate to your frustration. To me boredom is a motivater for change in my life and so I do. Its all about how you look at things and deal with them. I actually prefer the quiet day by day changes to the dramatic obvious things that grab your attention.

As a Zen practitioner, I would say that you are going through an impasse. Experiencing a degree of "stuckness" and the answer is to just open up to the experience and focus on every aspect of it. Boredom can be paradoxically interesting. :-) Derek

Why be frustrated? When life becomes tedious and the monotony starts to drive you out of your mind...shake things up a bit. Do something you've never done before. Even if it is a silly and simple as taking a different route to work. Usually when I am feeling bored I call a friend, we meet up and do something fun and stupid just to makes us laugh. When you are in a better mood, your mind becomes more creative. If you're feeling creative then you are more likely to think os something new to do. Hobbies are the best cure for boredom. Get a new one.
