Homemade mixes can and will save your family money. Lets face it, the economy is not getting better. In fact it is getting worse. So I am going to be posting many of my homemade Mix Recipes. I will also be posting recipes that will require the homemade mixes. For example the following recipe is for an all purpose convience mix. It can be used for various kinds of biscuits, among other things. So I will first post the mix then I will post a few recipes to use with the mix. I will add the link to the mix in the recipes. Hope you enjoy this series of homemade mixes. 9cups flour 3/4 cup canola oil 1 tablespoon salt 1/4 cup baking powder 2 cups nonfat dry milk Combine flour, dry milk, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Stir together. Mix in oil until the mixture is smooth. Store in airtight container. Refrigerate and use within a month or put into containers suitable for freezing and freeze. Makes 12 cups of mix

I have heard that homemade mixes can save alot of money. I usually just buy Bisquick but it can get expensive and Hubby loves when I bake so maybe this is a happy medium. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Thank you. How big are the containers you store this in? I freeze a lot of things for my family but we are running low of storage. It is time to decide if we need to get another freezer or not. We have our house fridge freezer combo and one stand alone in the garage. I dont know if I wnat to spend the money on a new freezer but I could see us filling a whole shelf of this mix. Thanks.

You can easily freeze them in Freezer bags. They are easier to find a place to freeze them that way. Just be sure to label them.

Oh yes making your own mixes can save plenty, and lets face it today we all could do some saving where we can, I know I have had to pull the strings in a bit and making a few things myself can only help, thank you

I certainly will be putting this one on my list. I have saved several mix recipes from varying places. I especially like the fact that I know exactly what is in them. Is it possible or suitable to substitute some whole wheat flour in it, or add flax seed meal or wheat germ to it? I guess I could add those at a later time. I have certainly enjoyed my Holiday Muffin mix I got from you. I put fruit in them and they are especially good. Hubby does not often eat breakfast, it does not sit well with his stomach. He does like the muffins and they do stay well with him even early in the morning.

After reading all of the things I can make with this mix, I will probably make the larger batch and freeze it, just as I have frozen the Holiday Muffin Mix that I made up for myself, after giving it as gifts. I am really impressed with the freshness and flexibility.

I know what you mean. Homemade is wonderful though if you know how to use it. I mean, there are just so many recipes that you can use with just the basic mix. i will be sharing more later. I am getting disappointed with mylot though. I may quit posting on here soon.

I found this referenced in another discussion. I need to use mixes like this - don't need the additives, plus the econonomy of this is great.

I made a copy of the homemade mix so I can do the biscuits myself. Thanks for posting the recipe.
