Do you still have a toy from your childhood? I really wish that I had held on to some special toy from my childhood. It would be so neat to show it to my granddaughter. My daughter has kept the stuffed animal that she slept with until about age 9!! She even took it to college where it lives on a shelf overlooking her bed! Do you have a childhood toy?

Yes, I had a horrible childhood. I mean, really horrible. So, I have no pictures or a baby book or anything from my childhood. HOWEVER, I remember one day my Aunt Hattie took me to a store and bought me a doll. This doll is made of some kind of material that feels like plaster. I'm 51 so this doll is about 45 years old. It had a bottle with it and it was supposed to be able to 'drink' and pee. . . but, I think it's 'tube' was not connected from mouth to bottom and the water went into her head...she kind of started to 'melt' from the water. Anyway, I kept her forever. . . I made her a little sleeveless shirt when I was in 4th grade and to this day, she still has it on. I have her displayed on a little shelf above my bedroom window where I see her every morning when I wake up. I do not know whatever happened to my Aunt Hattie either. . . . I guess she may have passed on to be with the Lord by now.

This was such a touching piece Renae, thanks for sharing it with us. I'm sure seeing that doll each morning gives you inner strength.

Actually, I have quite a few toys from when I was a child. One is the first doll I got, she was one of the first full-sized 'walking' dolls that had legs that moved and walked. I have my china tea set that my Grandma got for me when I was about 5 (which is probably an antique now because it's over 50 years old lol). I also have my dollhouse furniture, and a few of my books. All my other toys were still at my Dad's house when it burned to the ground, so I consider myself lucky to have had some of these toys in my possession when that happened. These toys and books not only lasted through my childhood, but my girls used them too when they were little. Which proves that: they just don't make toys the way they used to.

Yes I do. I have a stuffed koala bear that my aunt brought me from Australia. It is balding pretty badly and is generally in pretty bad shape, but I just can't seem to bring myself to toss it out.

I do have one CNurse. She is a life size baby doll, her head and limbs are vinyl, her body is cotton stuffed, and cotton linen. I was 7 years old when my grandmother gave her to me for my birthday, I played with her so much and she went everywhere I did, that was with in reason. First she got a tear in her belly, and my grandmother stitched it up with embroidery thread so it was good and strong. Then She started losing hair to the point she had balding spots, and my grandmother attached one of her old hairpiece wigs to her. Bless her heart, she is so old and wore out now, but I keep her clothes laundered once a year and she still sleeps in an antique cradle(not from my childhood but bought for her. Emily my grand daughter already shares my love for her, for which I am so grateful. I know now she will always have a home.

I still have a stuffed pink cat that was bought for me 2 days before I was born. Let me explain why it is pink. I was a stubborn baby in my mother I guess so they didn't see to much in an ultra sound. I was suppose to be a girl but I ended up a boy. Thank god. lol. My aunt bought me a pink cat which I still have today. It has been through a lot but I still have it with a few stitch jobs. lol.

I only had homemade toys until I was in third grade. I will never forget that Christmas. My Grandma bought me a nurse doll holding twin babies. I loved it but since it was my only toy, it tore up way too sooon. So no, I do not have toys from my childhood. But I did see to it that my kids did and does.

I really don't my father was in the military and we moved a lot, mom did not let us hang on to things... I had a doll that I gave the neighbor girl when we moved - and we went back to Wisconsin for a visit several years later and the girl still had the doll it looked just like new after all those years because she kept it put up as special.

i had a pillow before that i used to bedwet everytime. i couldn't sleep without it. but when i turned twelve, my mom thought it was high time i learn to live without it. coz she fears that i might have a hard time sleeping when the time comes that i would need to go somewhere else. like a camp.

I still have several toys from my childhood. My parents have always reminded me to take care of my toys. 16 years after I was born, my kid sister inherited some of my toys. I still keep some of my toys. They are all special to me.

NO I don't have anymore. Mu family moved a lot from town to town when I was a kid. It made me difficult to keep all the toys, only few dolls still left and now my daughter is playing with them.

I have several dolls from when I was a child. My grandma made them for me. She was really big into crocheting things, so I have several dolls with the plastic head and hands and the rest is crocheted and stuffed. My daughter plays with them now.
