Because i am preggo, and i have a child under two. .I can go without any questions about my income to a parenting class, and i recieve free fruits and veggies for a week as well as milk and bread for a week. I have JUST learned of this and have only gone once. Do you have something like this where you are from ? I love it! Also i get to meet other moms in the area. I also got free prenatal vitamins last time i went. And they have a few bins of clothes taht people have donated to that you can pick baby clothes out of and keep! Since i am not rich or even well off by any means, i plan to take full advantage of this from now on! Would you ?

The only thing we have here is WIC and I don't even meet the income guidelines for that anymore. Milk gets expensive quick. LOL But if I were you and there was something like this here I would take full advantage of it. I would also have some place to donate my 12 boxes of old maternity and baby clothes. I know I can take them to Good Will but I can't see making someone in need of them pay for them when I am willing to give them away.

Sissy I think that wonderful that you have something like that. Here in the states we have what is called WIC women infants and children. What they provide is milk formula, eggs, cereal, cheese dried beans, high protien type foods free of charge. They also provide nutritional counseling among other types of programs. I think this is great. So many young mothers and families need this extra help during this time of their life. You take advantage of it Sis, you deserve it.

Me and my friend went to the program today and there was a dietition there and some nurses as well to ask questions to. Which i always have questions about my childs crappy eating habits! lol. So i learned a few things and got some healthy free food ;) Hope you're having a good day angel ;)

Well, I haven't heard of it in my area. But I've heard that some areas of the lower income group have a programme where pregnant ladies are provided with nutitious food. But I"m not sure how many people avail of it. There are more programmes in India to provide nutrition to women and kids in the lower income group. But I suspect most of the money that the government gives for that goes into the pockets of the politicians! Some areas, I heard are doing well with the programme...the earlier place we lived in the health programme was implemented very well....but I hardly see that anywhere else.

What a wonderful program sweets - I would have loved something like this when I was carrying my 2. We do have antenatal classes that you can go to once a week for around 8 weeks before you have your baby and learn all about labour, birthing plans etc but that is about it, I do hope that you do take full advantage of this program sweets and please ask those who run it to spread the idea around as there are many out there who could use this kind of assistance! xxx

I don't know if there is a place like that here. We have always been pretty well off so I feel lucky enough to not need a place like that so I have never looked for one. We have salvation army and stuff like that and I shop at frenchies for clothes to save money. I'm glad they have places like that though cause If I ever needed one I would not hesitate to use it.

We don't have anything like that here that I know of. People on certain benefits can get free milk and vitamins until the baby is one. If there was anything like you described, I would definitely take full advantage of it having tried to raise my two kids on less and less when things cost more and more! It's great that you don't have to answer questions about your income or anything as well.

No, we have nothing like that around here. Sounds like a wonderful program and I like the stipulation that people have to go to the parenting class.

Hi Sis! I would definitely take advantage of something like that. Where I am in Sask we don't have things like that. When I was pregnant with my daughter we had to pay for the pre-natal courses! Prenatal vitamins are one of the best things you can take while pregnant! I'm so happy for you! Good luck with your pregnancy, and keep us posted! Luv & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

Really no questions asked about your income? That is awesome,I would take advantage of that. What I has was WIC which stands for Women,Infants and Children and I would get so much food per month for as long as the child was under 5. But, they considered your income and because my husband got more overtime during the winter months, we disqualified during that time..:(

That sounds really nice! Do take advantage of this service Lil Sis. No, around here you have to prove that you are poor, and that you don't have a husband to support you or that he is out of work, to get any kind of assistance. Some of the churches have food programs, but once again, you have to prove your income and it has to be very low to get assistance. Enjoy it whileyou can! Shalom

oh your poor suffering star adoniah! well.. silver lining.. Its pretty pink ;) We are not super poor, and we are not well off either, but hubby is the only one working and he's got to pay out to childsupport and daycare for his son that doesn't live with us. While she lives in a 3 bedroom house and owns two cars and leather furniture and big screen tv's. yea.. and we live in a basement apartment and get by month to month. It's just unconstitutional, but its teh way it is. So be it! I wouldn't get all this healthy food so regularly if i didn't go to the programs. On top of that, i look at it like this: Here in canada we are taxed up the butt hole for everything. i think its 13% taxes on EVERYTHING, and that is AFTER they tax the money that you make, and then they tax the money you get from tax refunds before you get that back too!! lol, so i'm just.. getting my share back! without breaking the other tax payers.. not like i'm frauding welfare while hubby works !! although.. if id idnt have the morals my mommy instilled in me we'd probably be better off if i did! LOL.

Hi Lil Sis, Like I said take advantage of the services they offer you. Here in the states they have just cut everything. I am classed as totally disabled, but because I get a stipend from the VA I do not get any medical benefits from the state which I do qualify for financially. Its a crap shoot. Stay healthy so the baby is healthy! Thanks for Best Response Lil Sis. Shalom~Adoniah
