When using computer do you mind if somebody is watching you? Do you mind if there are many people around, not watching you but making a lot of noise? Or you would prefer to do your online work alone? Me, as I put my computer on the living room I have been working on computer with many people behind me and sometimes I feel annoyed especially if my nieces and younger sisters are playing. I sometimes cannot concentrate on what I am doing. I would want to work privately in as much as I can, if only I could but I have no choice since I can't have my computer relocate. There is no enough space. And besides for me, it would be the best location since my younger sister used to the pc and I can best monitor them with the computer in the living room. HOw about you guys?

No I dont like it if someone is watching me, I can type quite fast but as soon as I sense someone watching me I cant type anymore. My husband and kids sometimes read what I am doing over my shoulder and I dont like it, I dont know why because its not like I am doing anything wrong, but I lose my thread. I can cope with the noise, I have 4 children so the noise is just normal and I can blank it out, and then my kids usually tell me off because they are trying to talk to me and Im in my zone. Usually when I am concentrating extra hard on what I am typing they seem to shout me all the more, and I come out of my zone and get ratty with them.

Yeah, me too, especially when I am in the forum, and I am responding a certain discussion, I become conscious and later on forget what I want to write. That is why when my sister are around I would always asked them to just watch them.

With many people watching behind you can be embarrassing, especially when you want to do something private, i.e. chatting with friends, or visiting some adult websites. If you need concentration to learn, the stairing may make you nervous, and the noise may make you upset. So you may try to talk to them asking for some private time alone, or introduce better choice to them, so you can concentrate on your own affair. When you have to be with them, you may find something fun to be shared together, for example, watching a movie. wish this can be helpful.

Hello Word traveling, thanks for the response. It indeed help in the discussion. I also used to chat every noon with my boyfriend, my family is there watching TV while I am chatting. I only get irritated or upset when this younger sister of mine who always peek is at home. She always secretly stand behind me and read the messages I sent and the incoming messages I received.

I work with computers for most part of the day and it is done in my business place which is being watched by several customers. I defintiely do not mistake if they watch. There is nothing big scret in it. Only when I had to do some confidential matter, then I prefer to do it when the shutters are pulled down.

actually it all depends on something that i am working on. if i am working on something private and sensitive data, i don't want anybody around me at all period. if i am just playing around with my computer in the internet and other fun stuff that you can do with computers, i don't mind really if somebody would stick their eyes, or neck in my nose. lol.

I always prefer to work on the computer in privacy. It makes me very nervous when someone is over my shoulder or staring at the screen while I am working. I can't stand any kind of noise either. I cannot concentrate on what I am doing either if there are disstractions.

I'm assuming you are doing school work on your computer. Do you need monitoring? If you need privacy to do your school work, I would find another way. Perhaps you could persuade your parents to purchase a laptop and do your work in another, more private room. You may even want to schedule a time to do your work so that people are not bothering you.

For me there are a number of answers to that question. It really depends on what kind of work I am doing on the computer. If I am working on something private or personal, I don't want to be doing it in Grand Central Station. Internet Cafes qualify for that designation, and there are many programs that let strangers figure out what your doing, so banking in those places is a risky business! * Some things are just fine to be doing out in the middle of a small mob. Dropping mindless answers to quizzes or saying hello to friends on email or whatever is fine for public consumption. * Most people do not want to be writing intimate correspondence or doing medical research in the small mob. * In your case, it sounds like a little lap top and a wi-fi connection sounds like it is called for. Some kind of password protection or firewall to keep little eyes out of whatever you are doing.

I understand your frustration, because we all use the same computer and sometimes they are really loud especially when you are trying to concentrate on something.

In everything I am doing, I want to do it in private. I don't want anyone looking what i am doing except if I am teaching the person on how to do it. But if it is my work, I want to do it privately. No disturbance or audience at my back or behind me.

I have my computer in a seperate room where I can see the TV but still be apart from the living room scene. I spend so much time on computers both at work and at home that I try to at least have some kind of social interaction with other people around me even if its just half listening to the conversation other people are having. But still allows me to concentrate when I need to. Can you make your computer sit in a corner of the room kind of "pretend" own space? Maybe that would help.
