We don't have a water softener and the faucets in the bathroom's are eaten away by the hard water. Have to replace the faucets every few years. Do you have a water softener and if so, what brand? Think we need to install one and soon.

We have an inline filter. It goes down to several microns. The reason we have this instead of a softener is because the water softeners here have salt and I can't have salt in my water. The filter has to be replaced quite often. Also the faucets and fixtures around here are pretty strong, as long as we use the write cleaners and nothing too strong, they stay pretty well. It's the back of the toilet the goes to heck fast! Take care and I hope you find a really good solution for you and your home. Take care

Thanks for the good information. Our faucets get so eaten away from the hard water. They need replacing again and we have 3 bathrooms......ugh! Thanks so much for responding.

Thank you for best response. I've lived most of my life where the water is bad, I moved from one high iron place to another. My friend lives with high sulfer. Take care and good luck.

We have very hard water here also. We can't afford a water softener though. They say that Culligan is good to use. I usually soak my faucets in CLR to clean up the hard water deposits in and on them.

I've tried cleanser and even a q-tip. Nothing seems to help although part of the faucet, at the bottom, has been eaten away. Thanks for the information about CLR. Will get a bottle. Thanks for responding.

Your welcome. CLR is good for showerheads and sink nozzles. Just let them soak in it and it will clean out the holes or pours so your water can flow through freely.

Imagine what all that hard water is doing to your pipes as well. I have a water softener that's compact yet does full-time duty. It's called the WaterBoss. Bought it at Farm & Fleet but Menards and I think Lowe's sells it as well. I believe I paid almost $500 and installed it myself.

I can't imagine what the inside of our pipes look like. Thanks for the information. Might be something I need to look into and soon. Thanks for responding.

No I don't and really don't want one...I did have one a long time ago..I kept forgetting to put in the salt and wasn't here for them to deliver it so.....it was a waste of my money. I also have to replace plumbing once in a while but not that often and I do enjoy drinking my hard water!

Actually I don't like washing my hands where someone has a water softener because it makes them slick or greasy feeling. Didn't know salt had to be added. See what I learned today? lol Thanks for responding.
