So Wednesday we finally had Bailey neutered. After my friend found us the vet that we could afford we knew we had to do it as fast as possible. WE took him in the morning and picked him up at night. He looked so fragile and restless and I felt so bad. But that night was the first night since Christmas that we were able to sleep through the night. I Don't think we even realized how sleep deprived we were. No more meowing from 2 to 6 am, we can sleep now:):):)

I am happy for you and for Bailey. He may not be happy now, but he will have a longer and happier life. You guys will too, when you get caught up on your rest. It is hard to afford medical care for people or pets. It is great to have friends who know their way around.

Amen! I have a friend who is crazy about animals and takes in every stray she can. She's also extemely knowledgable about animal care and that comes in handy for me too.

Yes, I am sure he will be:) ANd we certainly are now that we can sleep LOL I find that when we compare things medical care for pets is even more expensive than for people which I can understand but becomes a pain when we love and have animals. On the other hand I also feel that most vet practices seem to over do it in their pricing. After all if Bailey was able to have his vaccines and the neutering for $80 I am sure that, for example , around $150 could do it and they would still make money. But no... they take around $500 for the same job. Ok so Bailey was done trough a cat rescue group that have an arrangement with the vet clinic, but still... as I said if they can do it for $80 then $150/$160 would be enough for them to make some money.. no need to rob all in one time. THey could make it lower and people would certainly go back whenever their pet was sick. I don't know this let's make all our money in one day philosophy our society seems to be more and more into really gets me a bit mad.

Good grief! I had no idea a dog could be that much trouble because of not being fixed. Is that why my dog is barking all hours of the night? I don't know of any females roaming around the back of the apartments, but I have been going nuts trying to get Sherlock to quit barking. Any advice? : )

Oh, Bailey is a cat! Do you think it would still apply to my dog?

LOL yes, bailey is one of our cats. I have a dog too but I'm not sure what he would do if he wasn't neutered because we had it done on him while he was still a puppy. At that time our finances were still sound :) But I guess it really is possible, specially if there are females around - I heard they can smell them even if they are somewhat far. IF you don't think he needs to go out for any of his bodily functions, and he is not sick or anything it might be very possible that it is the same problem. Even if it doesn't happen with all dogs it might happen with some. As for advice I'm all out :) I was starting to despair with bailey myself, not really sure of what I could do anymore. I knew that neutering would probably help but with the prices they were quoting I couldn't afford it.Until I found one of my friends and she solved the problem for me and found me a cat rescue group that were able to book it for me at a price I could pay. Maybe you can check if there is something like that for dogs around your area. THe Humane society here used to have a clinic where they would do it for a price that was affordable but they stopped doing it a while ago. But maybe you can start from there :)
