I new the letter was due, because I am on incapacity benefit I have to be fully assessed as to whether they will continue paying me! Well the appointment is next Wednesday, thankfully it's in the afternoon, I am NOT a morning person as you know! If I don't get enough points they stop paying me and it means I have no money coming in, and will have to get a job quickly! I am NOT workshy so don't shoot me down in flames, it's just that what employer is going to employ someone who is tired, constantly yawning and constantly going for a pee? Would you employ me? If I kept disappearing to go to the toilet and kept yawning in front of everyone and be totally lethargic? I am not sure my conditions will be classed as incapacitated anymore, when I first got it it was because of my mental breakdown and depression. Well as you know my depression is under control but I have the weeing and tiredness problem I can appeal and I hope it doesn't come to that, I can only hope that the doctor I get is sympathetic and will listen to me, Mind you my luck with doctors is proxy so no doubt I'll get a rough deal out of it! And I can't see my GP supporting me over the decision either! So how do you feel about medicals, medical assessments or having to prove yourself to get what you are entitled to? The date is Wednesday 27th, so I've got a week to worry about it Grrrrrr

Stop growling or I will have to smack your snout - that is a big sisters duty! First off I hate incapacity benefit rules! Despite being told for my doctor for the best part of a year I should be off of my feet I continued to work although not as many hours! I finally applied for In ben just before i went for my surgery in April I applied for it and when I returned home there was a letter telling me I had been refused because I had not paid enough NI for the previous 3 years, well for a year I had been really struggling but still going to work as much as was possible and for the two years before that I had worked part time - I had 2 children one pre school and was unable to work full time due to my partners shifts! I had paid tax and NI from I was 16 til I had Niamh when I was 32, in fact when I left my ex and my eldest was only a toddler i worked 2 jobs to make ends meet - I never claimed anything! If I had never worked I would be receiving every benefit going as their 'stamps' are paid for them - no wonder the country is in the state it is! I am sure that you will have a nice dr - if you don't just let them know about your terrifying big sister and just for the record I would gladly employ you if I were in the position to do so! If you are getting stressed get in touch baby bro - you know I love you. Now go have a glass of red to calm you down! xxxx

I understand exactly what you are going through, wolfie! I liken the experience to when we were in school and dreading that big exam that was coming up. To allay your fears I would tell you that with the symptoms you have been experiencing you should have no trouble keeping your disability income. You say that your depression is under control, but the doctor would not be considering placing you on anti-depressants if this was the case. My dear mother had an expression for whenever you were in doubt about the outcome of something important: "Claim it."

I might take someone with me, looks better than if I go on my own. I guess it's down to the doctor I see on the day, if he's in a bad mood then I won't get it, it's like a lottery the system.

Wolfie stop getting into a state See I do not have this problem as I am classed as Disabled 100% As for your GP I think it is time change Doctors to be honest and if he has put you on Anti depressants then that has to have gone into your Paperwork so I would not worry to much If it states that he/she does think you are able to work then pop the Question so why have they put you on Antibiotics and also the tests you have to have need to mentioned Sweetie don't panic just prepare yourself You should be ok if they are still passing you the Antidepressants xxxx

It's all a lotto, probably based on targets, the doctor would have to reject so many a day regardless and if he's in a grouchy mood or doesn't like the look of me he'll reject me anyhow, sighs heavily, I know I'm a worrier, I can't help it, I've been a worrier for 36 years can't change now. Short of wetting myself on the day to prove a point I know it's going to be an uphill struggle x

I'm truly jinxed when it comes to doctors. The only wonderful doctor I had I lost because of my ex grassed him up for seeing me out of his catchment area b*stard, since then all the GPs have been as useful and compassionate as the local tom cat.

Be careful, I failed two medical assesments even though I had severs depression and anorexia. They start assessing you the moment you go in, how you walk, how you manage stairs, how your dressed, and if you turn up on time. One of my points that went against me was because I turned up on time. A friends relative was turned down even though they had MS and couldnt get out of bed in the morning. Personally I think that these assessments are a waste of time and its a no win situation and a way for the government to get people off the benefit.

Which poses the question do I wear a shirt and trousers, or just an old top and jeans and look scruffy and unclean. It's a lottery and it depends on the mood of the doctor, if he doesn't like you you've had it! Welcome to Mylot!

I dont know about teh yawning but ya can wear depends. If it happens that you have to go to work just have to tel them your medical problems . and as to the yawning I understand that is from not getting enough air into your lungs so I would recommend deep breathing to fill lungs up. then maybe no more yawning! But good luck with the MEdical exam !

I have an appointment with my Dr on the same day. I'm needing to find out if I can get on disability here where I am. I can't stand on my feet for long periods of time let alone hold a job. This is due to my car wreck in November. It looks like I've developed a bad case of arthritis. I'm not amused either.

I went for my first medical assesement about 2 weeks ago and I was worried sick. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for quite some time now but was worried how I would be assessed. I just answered the questions as honestly as I could. I have just received a letter saying I have met the criteria to continue to receive incapacity benefit. But 2 days later I received a letter asking me to go to an appointment for a work focused interview. I am totally confused, I have a job, I am off sick!
