I saw that someone else posted a discussion about whether or not you were who you represented yourself as here on mylot. I guess we'll never know really. But it got me to thinking, there are so many cool people on here always ready to offer a smile or an encouraging word and I wish I did personally know some of the people I have come in contact with on this site. So if you wouldn't mind saying, I'd like to know a little bit more about you. Nothing vital that you would consider compromising to your anonimity, just a little bit more about who you are without me having to visit every single profile on this site. For example my name is Katherine, I'm 48. I live in Phoenix, Arizona with my 11 year old son and my boyfriend. I am the mother of 3 children 18, 11 and 9. I love the internet, but I also like scrapbooking, Marilyn Monroe and meeting new people. If you don't find this too invasive I would love to know more about you. If you do find it too invasive, I understand and respect that and you will continue to be a friend on mylot no matter what.

Hi Katherine. Pleasure to meet you. My name is Angela. I am a single mother with 4 children, my girls are 12 and 2 and my boys are 6 and 7. I will be married for the second time to the most wonderful man in the world. I work full time for the federal government but right now I am off due to a workers compensation issue. I've lived in PA, MD, DE, and VA. I will tell you that I am exactly the same way here on myLot as I am in my every day life. One of my best friends introduced me to this site and if I could name her she would vouch for me. Great discussion. I hope you get a lot of responses.

Thank you so much Angela for responding. I'm glad to meet you too and now that we know just that little bit more about each other, now when we post comments on one anothers discussions, its just that much more easy to relate to one another. I hope you aren't off work for too long unless you want to be of course. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Katherine, good subject a chance to get to know a few folks better. I am Deea, also know as Dee and my birth name is Delores. Most people do not remember that name. I have 3 grown children, My oldest son is 26, my daughter is 24, and my youngest son is 22. They are all living on their own, my daughter is married. My youngest son is moving to California this July for school. I am divorced and for the 1st time in life living on my own, I really have found I like it alot. No boy friends, not looking for one either, like I said I really like being on my own. Not having to answer to anyone is a beautiful thing*smiles* I work at a local Tavern, alot like Cheers, where everyone knows my name lmao...It is fun. I use to be part owner and GM of a Cafe a few years back, I loved it and think it might be fun to do again. But the hours were killer, I make way more money here and not near the stress. I have many friends and family so my life is full, my hobbies are several crafts, reading, hanging on the net, fishing, going for walks when the weather permitts, oh and gardening, can't waite for spring , so I can get back outside to plant. There you have it me in a comment shell.

Thanks Deea. I'm really glad you shared. Although I enjoy my time with my boyfriend and son, I can only imagine how nice it would be to have leisure time of your own. Sounds like you keep yourself really busy though. Where in California is your son moving to?

He is going to move to LA, he wants to be a Audio engineer. I am glad he is going to school, but at the same time worried because he will be so far away. He has a friend who is in the same program and can help him out, with getting settled in and started. I may have to take a trip next year too Cali. I will visit him and my oldest sister if she is still there. She is a traveling nurse, her assignment right now is in Santa maria.

It's interesting because I was thinking the same thing the other day. People here on myLot seems to be just the perfect friends you wanna have. As what I have observed, people can be what they really want to be in the virtual world of computers. Here there are no apprehensions of getting rejected in front of your nose. You cannot afford to be shy because you're not facing real people. This is the wonderful world of internet.

Same here, in real life I can count my friends with the fingers on my one hand only. But online? Oh, my Buddha! I've got tons. And mind you, we always communicate with each other :-D Something I can't possibly do for real.

Thanks Missy. Wow you must really have your hands full. Although I grew up with 4 sisters and a brother and somehow it never seemed to be too much. But I can only assume that is why your user id is bellaofchaos. LOL. I used to be a bookworm when I was young, but once I had children that seemed to go straight out of the window. Thanks for taking the time to share with both myself and anyone else that reads this post.

My name is June and am 58 years young. I am married and have been for 35 years to the same man. We met and married in Incirlik AFB, Turkey. I was stationed there and met him and we started dating and then we tied the knot. We have one boy and he has three children, my grandkids. I live in Mascoutah, Illinois and work at a After School Program. I love working with kids and we get along fabulously. My grandkids ages are 10, 12 and thirteen. One boy and two girls. They spend one Friday a month at my house and I love to have them there with me. I love soft music such as New Era, Yanni, and also sound tracks and movie from when I was younger. This is a nice discussion and I like the idea of getting to know people just a little bit better. So here is a hi to you and glad to meet you.

I was in the Air Force and loved it. My husband was also in the Air Force and spent 20 years, 5 months in it. While being in the Air Force I went to Texas, Colorado, Florida , Turkey and Minot. I made friends where ever I went and enjoyed it very much. I also think Yanni is a very handsome man and his music is out of this world. I have a DVD than my son bought me for Christmas of one of Yanni's concert. I love it and watch it often. Well, I got to get off the computer now. Been on here for about four hours and need to get some things done and my husbands dinner ready for him when he gets off of work. Talk to you later. sunshinelady

I love Yanni, but I haven't heard anything by him in years. Maybe I'm just not listening in the right places. I used to listen to him on a long drive or to unwind after work. He sure is gorgeous. What branch of the service were you in? I grew up in the Air Force. My father was a "lifer" having been in 27 years.

Yes, you always have good and positive things to say about everyone and apparently according to other remarks received on this post I am not the only one that thinks so. Interesting choice of names for your children. Do they mean anything specifically. Your name is also different. Does it have a special meaning? I wish I had that kind of patience with children, but I seem to only have tolerance for my own. I look forward to chatting more with you also and I mean that sincerely.

Hi Katherine. My name is Dixie. I guess you are now wondering why my username is betsyraeduke if my name is Dixie. Well, my all time favorite tv show is the "Dukes of Hazzard". Sometimes, for fun, I write Dukes of Hazzard fanfiction. Betsy-rae Duke is a fanfic character that I made up. Coincidently, I just recently moved from Phoenix, AZ to Woodstock, GA. I grew up in a small town in Michigan. I have lived in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona and now, Georgia. I do not plan to make any more major moves, Georgia is where I plan to stay. I have two children, both boys. They are ages 6years and 7years. I enjoy playing games with my kids, playing on the internet, hanging out with friends, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, reading, writing and karaoke, just to name a few things. My favorite comedian is Jeff Foxworthy. My favorite actor is John Schneider. When it comes to music I mostly enjoy country and 80's rock. Some of my favorite singers and or bands are Areosmith, Deff Leppard, Poison, Bon Jovi, Pat Benetar, Sugarland, Gretchin Wilson, George Straight, Reba McEntire, Mark Wills, Rascal Flatts and Patty Loveless. I also like making new friends. If you would like to get to know me better, you can reach me on MSN or Yahoo messenger. My MSN addy is: hazzard.girl@hotmail.com My Yahoo addy is: hazzard_girl_01@yahoo.com (yeah, as you can see, I'm a major Dukes of Hazzard nut! hahaha!) Take care and have a great day!

Hi Dixie. Why did you move from Phoenix if you don't mind me asking? Georgia must be quite a change from Phoenix. I've never been there and have no idea what its like. I remember the Dukes of Hazard but I don't think I've known anyone to be such a great fan. I like some of the 80's groups that you like too. I love Aerosmith and have seen them twice. In fact, funny enough its my belief that I got pregnant with my daughter the night that I last saw them. LOL. I will be sure to add you to my contacts. Thanks for sharing your address and time with me. I look forward to talking some more.

I know what you mean about the dirt and rocks. It sure isn't the aesthetically pleasing place to live. The only good thing is that you can see the sky, because there is no trees in the way.

21 Feb 08
I don't mind at all. For one thing, I never planned to stay in Phoenix to begin with. My husband and I went there for a little while because my husband's mother lives there...I don't care for Arizona. I grew up in Michigan. That is where I lived most of my life. I have also lived in Illinois and Wisconsin as I stated...So a few things that I am very particular about, I like nice green grass in my yard as opposed to rocks, lol. I like plenty of trees with big fluffy leaves, such as oak, maple, etc. as opposed to palm trees...Also, desert climate does not agree with me, dry heat makes me feel as though I am sufficating...We chose to move to Georgia for the following reasons...One, we both wanted to live somewhere that did not get bitter cold in winter, or at least didn't get that way very often. By bitter cold, I mean like below zero tempertures like we get in Michigan or Illinois...Also, I have a good friend who lives here who has been trying to get me to come here for quite a while...My husband said he didn't care where he went as long as it was warm and he could hunt and fish...which he can do here and it is warm...so this is where we be...We will not be making any more major moves as our kids are in kindergarten and first grade and so we feel it is high time we settle down.

Hi Katherine, nice to meet you. My English name is Doris, from China. I am 41 years old, a teacher in a university. I have a son. We can only have one child because of the birth control policy in our country. I do want to have another child, but I can't. One child in one family is a bit lonely. Reading your posts and the responses from your friends reminds me of the wonderful travel to USA I had in 2007.

Hi Doris. That seems so tragic that you would want to have another child, but cannot. I didn't realize that they imposed those kind of restrictions where you live. Any chance that you may be able to move to the United States in the future and fulfill your dream of having another child?

Northern greetings, Katharine! First of all, love Phoenix! You are in one beautiful part of the world. My name is Shirley, I am a young 60 years old. I say young, because I feel young. My 2 small businesses keep me outdoors/indoors! I have owned my own Nursery/Landscaping business since 1989. 3 yrs ago, I finished a 5 yr. apprenticeship as a tiler! I have one wonderful son, he is 28! I live on a small island off the coast of British Columbia..should say Southern coast! Have lived here for 29 yrs. I have been divorced for 16 yrs. & loving it. Have own home (well, me & the bank) on 3 acres. 2.5 miles to the ocean on either side of me. I have 3 of my own pets, and foster a multitude. And I think at one time or other I am home to every deer & racoon here. My son & a multitude of his friends come home every second weekend, we just recently bought a boat together! Spend a lot of time exploring! Just love your flora and fauna! Nice meeting you & now I have a better insight to the lovely/brilliant person at the end of the computer.

Thank you. Hi Shirley. I loved your post. Very thorough which gave me a better glimpse of a new friend. How wonderful that your son and yourself bought a boat together. That must be so much fun, although I personally am a bit afraid of the water and therefore a bit distrusting of boats. An interesting choice of career fields, particularly for a female, but my hat is off to you for pursuing what it is you wanted to do. I look forward to many more chats.
