Did Anybody Catch The Lunar Eclipse on Thursday Morning?

I missed it!!! I hadn't remembered the actual date, until my friend mentioned it to me last night on Instant Messenger.
The total Lunar Eclipse apparently took place at about 3 a.m. on Thursday, but was a bit of a disappointment for him because we had almost total cloud cover here. A shame, because since I saw last March's Eclipse, he has been patiently waiting to see the awesome sight of the Blood Moon. If you remember, I stood out and watched the whole spectacle last March, and wrote a poem about it, which I'll post here, to give you some idea of what it was like. It gave me quite an eerie feeling but it was one of the most magickal and awesome cycles of nature I have ever seen.
Blood Moon
March third, two thousand seven, the day for this event,
Most part, the afternoon on computer quietly spent,
Checking on the times that the moon would change its glow
From silver into darkened bronze; spectacular, I know.
Waiting, anticipating the wondrous heavenly sight,
I have to go and stand out in the garden late tonight,
Nine thirty is the time that the darkening will begin,
To miss this magickal display would surely be a sin.
A black cloud worked its way from the bottom to the crown,
Until ‘twas just a darkened sphere with golden circle round,
Then suddenly, the moon turned dark, a deep grey silent orb
Which turned to bronze with patches grey, a wonder to absorb.
Binoculars revealed a brown sphere with a bluish crest,
Then gradually, the bronze appeared; oh wow, that was the best,
A Blood Moon was above me like deep red, setting sun,
The stars began to twinkle so much brighter, every one.
Then gradually a golden light which bounced off eastern side,
Crescented the orange, in awe I stood and sighed,
I made a wish, not once but thrice, in magick golden light,
I think I entered Moon Mystique whilst standing there tonight.
The golden crescent growing now, as Moon regained its light,
A pleasure to behold was this golden, glowing sight,
Then gradually and silently, silver light returned again
But in my mind forever more, the Blood Moon will remain.

If you can imagine one of the old Globes of the Earth, without the writing on and darker and red in colour, hanging in the sky, silently and majestically, that's what the Moon looked like at one point. I stood watching it for hours, and I'm so sorry I missed this one.
So, did any of you experience the wonder of the Total Lunar Eclipse this year, and the Blood Moon? If so, I'd like to hear what you saw.

Yup, I caught bits and pieces of it. I was at work and for me, it was at a more reasonable time.. started about 8:45 PM.
THought I would get to see it on the way home, but it was too cloudy then.
Next one is 2010.

Awwww, thank you, my dear friend. Well, I'll try to remember to forewarn you before the next one, in 2010. It's due for December 21st, which is Yule and Midwinter Solstice, so that will be a very special one for me, which I don't want to miss.
Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxxx

Awwwwww... you never seem to catch it, do you? I missed it too but seems it might have been a fruitless wait, as we had cloud cover. I don't blame you not wanting to stand in the cold... it's a long process.
I've put a link in Raydene's response, at No. 1, if you would like to see a short video, shot in the States, my friend.
Brightest Blessings. xxx

You don't have to go outside if you can see it from your window.. the trouble being that it's normally quite high when the full eclipse takes place and the colour changes. That might present a bit of difficulty, I guess, and it's not worth freezing to see it.
Brightest Blessings.

We did get to see it about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. It was awesome. We had just come home from the school band concert. It was a wonderful touch to a good evening.

We were not able to see it because of the weather where we live. It was too cloudy to even see the moon at all. My boys were really disappointed because they love to see things like that! Your poem is beautiful by the way!

Awwwww, that's a real shame, because it's a really magickal site to see. I couldn't see it this year, but I saw it last March. Our skies were really clear last March. I believe the next one is December 21st, 2010, which is Midwinter Solstice... I'll be watching for that one, for sure.
If you look in Raydene's response, which is the No. 1 Response, I have put a link in, which shows the different stages, if you're interested.
Brightest Blessings.

Oh, that's a shame. There's something quite eerie about actually being there in the silence of the night, watching it change. I found this video, from the USA, which I thought you might like to watch. I like it because it's speeded up and not too long, and the colours are pretty good.
