Would you rather work for the business, or run your own business? Why? :p

I would rather be the business but I have tried both ways and it is easier for me just to work from home for others and for myself.

Well for one the gas prices these days. Two, I am a wife and a mother so it is easier for me to work at home instead of having to work around a 9-5 schedule. Three, I can keep the house clean, bills paid, yard work done, laundry done and everything else so when my husband is off from work, we can spend time together having fun instead of trying to catch up on chores around here. I have worked outside of the home for many years and held a full time job and part time on the side to get us to where we are now. and I still did all of the things I mentioned above. I am also tired of being drove nuts in the workplace so it is better for me to earn at home. I am my own boss. As I have grown older, I also like to be home because I can keep up with everything around here andmy husband can come home and relax and enjoy his time off instead of having to do extra around here like we did before.

Sound's convenient. I'm not actually looking into the 9-5 jobs, i'm looking into the moreee. night jobs/parttime jobs for starters & then moving into a fulltime night job, hopefully. Then later on switching to running my own business as I think that would be most profitable, all the while working on my paid-to's and other things that make me money online :) haha, see. I got it all planned out! When your kids get older are you going to pick up like a parttime job? Or do you think you'll still be like a stay-at-home type of person? I mean, nothing wrong with more money, and there are a lot of parttime jobs that you can get that pay pretty well.. 'cept most of them are more towards weekends and that might kill "family time" so to speak lol :P

Why is it easier for you to work at home, then to actually go to a job? I actually kind of want to do a mixture of both, not only make money from the internet but make money on a real job as well. I think I could make a pretty sweet amount of money if I do it right and leave an open schedule, and good cash flow :p

Hmmmmmm, well running a business takes a lot of work and can be very stressful, so I would say help run the business. My boyfriends brother has his own business and he always seems stressed or doesn't have time to do anything but work, eat and sleep, so I don't know if I could handle that, a partnership usually helps that out, but then their are all those legal issues. Right now I work for his brother when we go out there, since he is in the middle of no where, but I think soon I will be moving out there and helping my bf and his brother with that business as well as helping my bf with his small ebay business. I would rather them handle all the financial stuff and I could just help them with other stuff. But if I had my own business then I would want to run it, but I think my business would be a small local one, I would want to keep it simple. Sorry if I confused you, I tend to confuse myself, lol. So basically if I could be in charge and it was my own idea then I would run it but if my bf came up with the idea and wanted to run it then I would just help him with everything.

Yea I know what you mean by 80% of businesses failing, i have seen a good number of people try and fail. His business is like 3-5 years old I think, right now I think he is doing better, he has gone a little nuts though, lol. He is pretty hardcore religious now that he dumped his fiancé, but he tends to be a hypocrite about the whole religious thing since he is currently going out with two girls at the same time. But anyway he covers his bills now, he fired a lot of slacking workers that would just goof around when he wasn't there so that helps. I think the thing that he should have changed though was not to buy so much stuff, he bought a 72" screen tv, a house, a pool table and thats just a couple things to list. I'm sure he has bought other parts or upgrades for his modified car. He was breaking even some of the time because he was spending a lot of the money on things that weren't necessary, but hey its his business not mine, lol. He is doing better now that he isn't buying a lot of stuff, I guess he learned from that mistake. He is currently renting a section of the business building to another person so he is making profit on that. His business consists of Dvds, games and game systems, he used to sell cds but I guess they didn't sell well and were a hassle to list.

Well i'm not sure where all the pressure n' stuff is coming from. I mean, if he's covering his bills and his business is about that old, there doesn't seem like he should be worrying about much, or being too stressed. Yeah, spending a little bit is ok, but going overboard.. not so much! I suppose as long as he's still managing his bills and fitting in all this other stuff it's ok! Like you said, not your money/business, it's his. :P Sound's like an interesting business! Well g'luck to him, and g'luck to you n' your boyfriend in future success! =D

Nah, I getcha. I think the stress of running your own business is more of a, you don't have a set earnings, and you never know how much you'll make, whether it'll be enough to get you by, etc. I feel that once you gain stability of your business and don't feel so "Is my business going to get by another month" type of feeling you should be fine. Not to mention that it is pretty stressful if you know the fact that a lot of new businesses fail. I think last time I checked some figures it was above 80%... which is very very high. Is your boyfriend's brothers business new? It might just be the feeling of being new and like I said above, the feeling of wondering if you're going to be able to cover this months bills type of thing. What kind of business does he run? Your boyfriends brother that is..?

I've always had idead for businesses I want to start, but I prefer "free range" jobs, like modeling, music and acting gigs. xD

Freelancing type of jobs are hard to come by, but if you have a good way of getting them, and they pay well it's a great way to earn some extra cash. Not a good idea to try to live off of them, but yeah.

Yeah, and not only that but you can write things off easier on taxes, and claim more as you know exactly what you're making! It's definitely an upper when it comes to saving money on taxes if you really know what you're doing. When you're working for someone it's much.. much harder :o

yes , versus working for someone else who wants to nag and bicker with out early in the morning about things , basicaly attending to them , doing work for them , no way shape or form is it helping you or benefiting you working for them ..then if you dont do the work just they make you do it over again lol

I'd rather run my own business. That way if I was sick I wouldn't have to work and worry about getting a doctors statement. If there was a person that wasn't doing their part I could fire them instead of putting up with their laziness.

haha oh yes but before you go off being sick and deciding not to work that day, you'll have to make sure you'll actually be able to skip, otherwise you might end up going broke!

Of course, have my own business. So that I'll be the boss. Wouldn't it be fun if you're the one who's giving out orders than the one who's following them? ^_^ And besides, being an employee would mean that you have a limited income every month, depending on how much the employer would pay you. Compared to owning your own business, it is now up to you how much you'd earn. It is now up to your skills how you can improve your business so that it would earn more.

Hello LouieWpHs04 :) I like having my own business. Because it makes me own my time. It allows me variety in what I do. Working for somebody else's is boring for me because there, I get to do the same thing everyday.. :)

I do both. I definitely enjoy the power and flexibility of owning my own business. That is for sure. You can do what you want with it. Take off if you need to. But I have the real job too. It isn't so flexible.

of course i am prefer to run my own business...there is a big difference being an employee compare to have your business...you have a freedom of all things because you are the owner specially you own your time...no can force you to do something beyond you capacities...your income is not fixed unlike an employee...but the success of your business depends on you...you have an authority to do all your best to become successful.

I just don't have enough business savvy to own my own business. So, I would rather work for a business. I have thought of businesses that I would like to start but, I just feel too afraid to fail due to a lack of business savvy.
