Do you have alot of highs and lows in your daily life?

I do. One minute I can feel on top of the world and feel like everything is moving in the right direction and within a second everything takes a turn for the worst. It seems to stay that way for a while also no matter how hard I try to make it change. Life is a constant uphill battle for me but just when I reach a peak to where I feel comfortable, it happens again. Do you go through this? How does it make you feel? It makes me feel like giving up because it is very stressful and tiresome but I push myself to keep going and to keep climbing right back up that hill. Never give up!

Yep highs and lows almost daily and I do know how you feel - not so much that I want to give up but oh so often I just feel like running away from home and starting a new fresh life someplace else... Only thing is I'm sure that will only bring different highs and lows. I just keep plugging away looking forward to the highs even if only momentarily.

Same here. I just want to run away from it all too but I know it will follow me. I would love to start a fresh life some place else also for sure. We have very few highs in our household and tons of lows. Every day is a struggle just to drag yourself out of the bed, but I do it and keep giving it 100% daily. I hope your life gets better also.

I don't know if this will help you and obviously from my little fit of depression this week it doesn't always work for me but it does sometimes. I run away in my mind - I'll take a few minutes (and often difficult finding that few) but will picture in my mind a place I would like to be with me it's usually a peaceful setting, waterfall, stream, woods, lots of plant life and nature. I'll picture myself setting there just relaxing and enjoying the peace and joy I feel in a place like that. Sometime I may picture others with me also enjoying the same thing but most times I'm alone. That 'escape' in my mind often is enough to give me a little 'high' so I can continue on.

Yeah, Steph -- I have those highs and lows quite a bit. Sometimes I go for long periods of time without the lows, but during the past week I've shed a lot of tears. Mostly, it's been low self-esteem issues. I'm a failure, a loser, I sabotage everything I do, I'm not good enough, I don't follow through, my life is unbalanced, I don't clean up the house, I'm lazy, haven't taken a shower lately -- therefore I'm a filthy slob. I won't go on. I want to feel happy and confident. I feel so empty at times.I haven't been to church in several weeks, maybe even a month. I listen to the televangelists, especially Joyce Meyer or Joel Osteen. Everything they say that's positive, I think yeah, except me. I know the funk I'm in will pass. That's one thing that keeps me going. Thank you for posting this topic. I wanted to talk about it anyway, so I'm glad you brought it up.

Hi joyce. Your welcome. We go for a short period of time with things going smoothly then all of a sudden all heck breaks loose and the problems are thrown at us left and right. I have very low self-esteem also. Always have. I have been treated badly most of my life so I cannot feel any differently. We are not failures or losers. We just aren't given the respect we deserve. I always feel like I am not good enough because people make me feel that way. I have also put off taking care of things that I should do for myself but I am so headstrong on taking care of my family and I let myself go. I want to feel happy and confident also but I really do not forsee it happening in my lifetime. I am married and happy with it but not with myself at all. I feel empty all of the time. I would feel alone in a cropwded room because no one would notice me. I cannot think positive either and actually feel positive because things go wrong for me all of the time. I hope the situation I am in will pass but it has been around a very long time and it may be here to stay. I'm glad I can speak to others who have the same issue.

I'm afraid my life is a lot like a war. Long streaches of total boredom with moments of absolute terror. I have some up moments during the day, but mostly not real high, the joy of holding a happy cat, reading a good book, having a pleasent conversation, but most of my day is just putting one foot in front of another.

I'm sorry to hear that. I feel like my life is nothing but work and take care of others and live in fear also. I am bored too with no time for anything other than work and stress. Most of my days are nothing but work, loving the dog and the hamster and making sure my husband and daughter have what they need along with paying bills, cleaning house, cooking, laundry and you name it. summer is coming also and there is the yard work on top of all of that. I feel like I work so hard to get a head and take care of things but never have time to enjoy any of it. My daughter and husband enjoy it, so that is one good thing but I always wander when it will be my turn?

time to make some Steph time lady! Just tell them that if they want something done, they need to help you get some other stuff done - and do more for themselves - husbands can do yard work.... its why my yard is a mess, no husband.... if they can't do it, then they should afford to pay someone to do it

I think that is common to a lot of people. We sometimes feel down and miserable when toubles and problems set in. But life is like wheel, sometimes we are at the bottom, but there are times we feel we are on top of the world when we accomplish something or when we feel happy with what we have been doing. Whatever it is, we should not give up. There are times and things in life that we should be thankful for. Life is wonderful.

I agree. We try and struggle so hard in life to get somehwere and just when it starts to go right, all kinds of obstacles are thrown at each of us and it gets very discouraging. We feel like we do not deserve it because we are working so hard to get ahead in lfe.

Going through up and down in life is normal. I know when you are on the down its stressing, but always remember that this challenges in life makes us more experienced and in my case helps me to trust in God even more. How can you know sweat if you haven't tasted sour, know victory if you haven't tasted defeat, tasted healing if you haven't fallen ill? Never give up.

Yes. I think God is the only one who is pushing me to keep going to keep trying hard to get over those hills even when I tend to slide back down them at times. I would be nothing without him in my life.

Well, I do have lots of ups and downs, but not really on a daily basis. When I have a good day it tends to get really good, when I have a bad day, it stays bad all day, so you could say that my ups and downs could span out over a week.

I have never had a whole day where it was totally good. There is always something no matter what. I have had some very bad days that turned out good though, which is nice. I have been stuck on bad days for a long time now though and I just cannot wait until they change back to at least a little bit of good things.

We have a horrible time trying to get back up every time too. I am to the point that I do not really get in a hurry myself to start on fixing whatever the problem is. I have always tried to get things back on track right away but in most cases it takes someone else to actually fix the problem and they take their sweet old time. Like a mistake on one of my bills for example. they take thier sweet time fixing the error. I wish there was a happy medium also becuase these highs and lows are killing me. I have low self esteem as it is.

Oh yes sweety I have been there - in fact I am still there! I know how difficult it can be to keep plodding on and finding the energy to continue ther fight but the only other option of quitting on life and rotting away just doesn't bear thinking of does it? I do hope that you reach the crest of the hill soon and that the sun will continue to bathe you in its light! xxxx

Ohhhh. I hope so too. I cannot wait to even be able to see a glimpse of the light. I just have the feeling that it isn't meant to be though because no matter how hard we keep trying, we are pulled backwards from reaching our goals in life. We won't give up though because then there would be nothing to work and be proud of.

Yes. I manage all of our bills and such. I always plan for the future and work hard to get to where we want to be but every time we try to get ahead, we get drawn back somehow. We take steps forward and 10 back alot of times due to no fault of our own.

Its exactly like that with me except my ups and downs tie in with cash. When my pocket is full I float, when its empty I sink. It keeps going up and down all the time. Take this morning. My February pay was supposed to be in my bank account, or so I guessed. It wasn't. It'll be there tomorrow, they say. Well, you know what that did to my day ? I'm a pauper in a computer cafe killing time till tomorrow, thats what it did !

That sucks. I know what you mean. We always have financial highs and lows too. We got double charged when we filed our taxes a couple of weeks ago and they are to credit us our money back but have not done it yet. They say tomorrow also but we are still waiting. We try so hard to get ahead and keep going behind. It drives me nuts. I hope you got your money now. It is always something!

Amen to that. We go through alot here usually every day. There are no days that are perfect by no means. We have alot of rough days to work through and when it rains it poors with bad things, but we work very hard to get through them and things usually work out for the best in the long run but it usre wears you out with the struggle. Thanks to the lord above, we get through it too.

my self is the same as like you dear. and i believe most of people would have this experience. the only thing that i do in this situation just keep in my mind that everything wont be gonna better if i still like this. either like or not, i should give up and encourage my self not too give up with the down situation. no benefit too stay longer in down situation. something must to do if want to be better and better. none cant help ourselves in this situation except ouw own self

Yes. I agree with that also. It is just so tiresome having to deal with ten problems at one time when we try so very hard to make sure everything is going good and smooth. It gets to be very discouraging when you try to get ahead and get further behind along the way due to no fault of our own.

Same here. I have dealt with so many lows that it has almost become me because it is very tiresome and discouraging to always have to deal with, especially when we try our best to move forward and make things better. I feel helpless also when trying to fight back but eventually it all works out, but only have a very hard battle and struggle for it which is uncalled for alot of times.

Hello stephcjh, I do. Whenever I feel like I am on top of the world, the next thing I know is that, my life is upside down. Whenever I feel happy, the next thing that happens-I will feel sad because of something. It's like this since few years back. I am not saying that my life is unhappy. I just don't know why I always feel like this. It won't make me give up in life but I do feel down sometimes. I always remind myself that life will be better in future as long as I keep going and be a good person.

That is the same here. Just when I feel everything is going good and in the right direction, ding dong, that bell rings and shows me reality. It is like I am dumed for failure and stress and nothing else no matter how hard I try to avoid it. I always keep trying also because I cannot stand being behind or failing even though it is such a struggle to take care of all of the problems that arise.

sounds like something that happned to me for about 3 years straight. for those 3 years my life was horrible it started when i was 8 and ended when i was 11 and from then on i was happy for pretty much then till now. i guess life has a funny way of working and making you feel but the only one that can really make a change is you. so belive in yourself and dont give up!!
