AM Joke "- We're the country that has more food to eat than any other country in the world and more diets to keep us from eating it." This just struck me as so sad. Every day I go to www.freerice.com to play the vocabulary game to win food for starving people in other countries. I read at least once a week about children in our own country that are found undernourished and taken from their overworked parents. I hear about yet another anorexic/bulemic young girl dying to be skinny. food food food foooooddddddd We brag about what we spend on groceries! We complain about our weight! We eat to replace love! We eat because we are stressed! We eat we eat we... we starve we starve we... I know that there might be someone reading this that has been hungry- I wish I could invite you to a feast! I know some of you worry about your weight while you comfort yourself with a chocolate bar! Wouldn't it be great if we could put all the food in one bag and the people in another and take them out one at a time and match them up.. ok here Jane Doe here is your daily food.. I can bet that every person in the whole wide world would get a daily share and when all the people were out of the people bag we would still have lots of food in the food bag.. So then what ta he1I... Why do we have starving... overweight... obese... bulemic... anorexic... eating out of trash cans...? Today for this one day everytime you put something in your mouth think about it... What it tastes like.. weather it is good for you or not.. don't just wolf it down(no offence Wolfie) and be THANKFUL for it.. eat it only because you are hungry not to fill an emotional hole.. And at the end of the day if you find you have an excess figure out if your neighbor has enough. Giving/helping fills your soul in a way nothing else can! Nobody can do everything but everybody can do something. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

you have said so much to make us all think when we eat. and why we are eating. we should all be thinking of those who dont have enough to eat and be holding out a helping hand. then we would have helped someone else and ourselves also because instead of pigging out on the left overs we are making someone else less hungry and more happy. great discussion thanks.

Raydene, what a moving and accurate post. We throw away more than many people ever even hope to have as food. We turn up our noses at things that are not absolutely perfect. We take too much, and have it left over.

i don't know where you got this that usa has more food to eat than any other country, I saw no stats to prove that, canada has just as much food and so do many countries of the world, but canada and the usa and all other countries included you have all the food you can eat and waste but you have to have the money to pay for it.

What a wonderful way to look at things Mom! you are right it is ironic and oh so sad the way that food can be used, abused and longed for! I love the free rice website and go every day, it doesn't take long for the rice to mount up wither - and you can improve your knowledge at the same time! I don't have much of an appetite at the moment but I promise to think of the food I eat for at least the rest of the week! Thanks for beinf such a caring and passionate person Mom! xxx
