An assistant agricultural commissioner is accused of animal cruelty along with his mother and brother. They are accused of starving and abusing at least 28 horses that were on the mothers property. The forensic veterinarian for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and three investigators from the Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Columbia began examining 20 spots where one or more horse bones were found on another property held by this family. They are looking at sites in Georgia too. How can people not see that they were starving these animals. http://www.thestate.com/local/story/333923.html I think these people should be put away for a very long time.

I seen this on the news this week. I felt so bad for those poor horses. They could plainly see the horses were starving and there is no excuse for it. If they could not take care of the animals then they should not have had them to begin with. I think they should be starved for a few days and let them see what it feels like.

What I can't believe is that they say the horses were not starving. They were also in trouble in Georgia and had moved some of the horse up here from there. I think that they will be behind bars for a long time.

I can't believe they even had them if they were not going to love and take care of them too. I hope they do get locked up for a long time. Let them see what it is like to suffer.

Stories like this make me ill. I don't know how people can be so cruel to watch an animal suffer so. If you can't take care of them, give them up! There are agencies everywhere that will just take an animal, no questions asked. Just surrender them instead of giving them a horrible fate such as this. I wish I had the resources to do rescue.

There is a hearing Monday to have the human society to take control of the horses. This would make any one ill.
