If You Earned $50.00

Here's my question: if you earned $50.00 would you save it all, spend part of it or spend it all? I've seen so many people spend it all and then wonder why they couldn't pay a bill. Priorities are important in my life and was wondering how others felt about this situation. I would save part of it, if not all of it. I do like to watch my money grow in the bank. Thanks in advance.

Saving part of it is the best approach, I am in debt now so I probably would put it towards my debt. If I was not in debt, I would save part if not all.

I agree that saving the money is a good idea but if debt if there, it's smart to pay it off first. Thanks for responding.

It all depends really. The main thing to remember is you put your wants 2nd, and your needs 1st. Once you cover your needs, your wants will be so much more pleasurable knowing that there wont be any reprecussion's because you've already dealt with your needs. Hope this makes sense!

for me it depends on how i got the $50. I mean if i earned a extra $50 from online just hanging out with friends like here on mylot i migh take that money and get something nice for one of my kids, or something for me. I work a full time job and I put money away every single paycheck into a savings account for me and my children, plus i put money into my 401k every paycheck. Saving money is very important, but doing something nice for yourself or your children is just as important.

thanks for your kind words. I just always try and make sure that i do something to make myself smile or my children smile. making sure you are putting money away for the future is very important, but you can't ever forget about yourself

If I earned $50.00, I would put it towards paying off my bills. I never blow money. We are working so hard to pay things off and if we need or have to have something, we will buy it at the end of the month if there is any money left over to do so. I would like to see my money grow in the bank also, but I have too many bills to pay off right now. I actually have a few left to pay off but they are big ones.

Your welcome. I would love to have the extra in the bank also. I would love to see my savings account rise but until we get some bills paid off, that is impossible for us right now, but we are working on it.

Having just ot my first apartemnt it would more than likely go on bills. I prefer having all the bills paid before I go spending money on myself.

I have always been quite thrifty, and prefer to save my money. I was recently able to instantly solve a financial problem for my husband and I, one that was not my responsibility, for which I was paid back. I had the money, but he knew it was only temporary, because I knew we'd need the money for a later date. If we needed it then, we'd surely need it later. When there is something that needs paying, I'm aleays ready with a few dollars, because I save most of my monsy. If I had $50 extra in my wallet, I'd sae it, as opposed to spending it.

I'm a saver so the money would be saved. Most of my earnings go straight into the bank so it's there when I need it. Sometimes I get cash and this gets spent on day to day things like groceries and fuel as I need it. I can have the money in my wallet for ages as I don't just spend it willy nilly. I'll buy the occasional treat like a plant for the garden or a tool or household item I see on sale but I don't just spend money. I've been called 'rigid' in my money dealings and I'd rather be that way than be frivolous and worried about how I'm going to pay my bills and any emergencies that crop up.

Your description of saving money is great. Like your way of thinking. I'm also a saver but when I need something, I buy. Once in awhile I'll get this urge to buy a new pair of jeans and that's about the extent of my personal spending. Thanks for the good response.

$50.. thats too much to talk about. I have hardly earned 5$ yet.. So thats a long way to go.. Even if i could have earned 50$ that makes it over 2000 Rs in India.. So that would b lot for me.. I can get my mobile bills paid..or serve me for my bike's petrol..it would be an extra hand to my savings.. Yaar we are earning for spending only.. If we are getting an extra hand to an income .. y not live lavishly then. In any way i m already living my own way with all the facilities.. so whatever i earn will add up to my savings.

It would depend on my current situation. If all the bills were paid and it was just extra, I'd probably spend it. I'm not unrealistic though. If I needed groceries or to pay a bill, I wouldn't hesitate to do that either. I'm pretty good about taking care of priorities first, but not so good about saving. Maybe I'd buy a savings bond for my daughter with half of it and then spend the rest.

I think I'll pay some bills. Lol! Sometimes, I can't afford to spend something that I earned and worked hard for. Yes, a lot are really working hard but saving nothing. They spend more than what they are earning. Good money magnets are good in allotting their money right.

The first money i've ever earned on the internet is roughly $58.00. That was about 2 months ago. And what i did was to re-invest it back to my online endeavors. It's really our choice what to do with it. Either we re-invest that earning to get better returns or we can spend it all without getting anything in return.

there's 2 types of investment for me. tangible and intangible. most often i also invest in non-tangible investment like acquiring more knowledge in online courses (ebooks, online education).

I have been unemployed for a month now, and just started a new job today. If I earned $50, I would spend what I needed for food, pet supplies, clothes for my son, gas, and any remaining money would be put towards bills.

I can understand your frustration and I feel the same way! All too often we hear of people complaining about bills and debt, but then when they come into extra money or work overtime, they spend too freely. I wonder how they can live with themselves, knowing they have past due bills and still spend so frivolously!

I would save it. We are planning a very long trip at the end of this year and with Christmas right there we will need all the help we can get. We are going to south carolina for one week and then to disney for the next week. It would be nice if I could make enough to pay for a good part of the gas besides some other stuff that I would like to pick up for my girls to enjoy themselves in disney.

I would defiantly use the money to pay bills. I have so money different expenses it's ridiculous. I'm way to stressed out with school to have so many bills circling around my head.
