I couldn't take it any longer so I washed my tennis shoes. I wear them everyday unless we are going somewhere they won't be appropriate. I wash them in cold water, detergent and dry bleach. Never put them in the dryer because they last longer. I try to wash them on a regular basis. Do you wash your tennis shoes regularly and let them air dry?

I just threw away my tennis as I had washed them so much they were falling apart. Now I have to go and buy another pair. I use the washer and dryer to wash them.

I'm afraid to put them in the dryer fearing they will fall apart faster. We all know now you wear clean tennies. Thanks for responding.

Ooh, you're so good! I am not a tennis player, but my family is made up of tennis fanatics (playing almost every single day, and often twice or three times a day early in morn and late at night). Ha ha. I don't think they have washed their sneakers! I have rarely washed my regular sneakers, but I have to get new ones every several months, as I have such sensitive bottoms of the feet. Happy shiny sparkling shoes!

Years ago I played alot of tennis. I had heel problems from standing too much. My podiatrist told me to get New Balance running shoes which I did and to buy Dr. Scholl's women's inserts. Oh what a difference. Thanks for responding.

I haven't gotten New Balance in many years. Have been hooked on Nike. But used to be Reebok. And then when found one good one of a certain brand, have stuck with it. I wear extra padding always in my shoes, so have to get a size bigger to fit them. :o)

It depends on what kind of tennis shoes I have. The canvas ones get thrown in the washing machine all the time. Leather ones, I don't usually wash in a washing machine unless it can't be avoided, because I am afraid of them falling apart. I do wash leather tennis shoes out by hand every now and then. I will throw both kinds in the dryer, keeping a close eye on the leather ones though.

Mine last longer if I don't put them in the dryer. That's really a noisy process too, clanging and banging around in the dryer..lol Thanks for responding.

I wash my tennis shoes all the time. I cannot stand for them to look dingy or be dirty. I always wash tem in the washer on gentle cycle and then I put a towel on my bed and turn my oscillating fan on them to dry them quicker.

I've done the same thing and it works well. Mine are on the side of the tub above a floor vent and finally dry. Thanks for responding.

Your welcome. That would work also. I mainly wash more than just my shoes at one time, si it is just easier for me to line them all up on a towel on the bed and turn the oscillating fan on to go back and forth across all of them at once LOL.

I put mine in the washer with the towels. Then I let them sit out to dry. I scrub my son's shoes my hand - they cost more than mine usually. Even my New Balance go in the washer. I had a pair of keds (with the cotton uppers) that I loved and seems like I had to wash them every week. The seams are ripped now and should be tossed.

I love New Balance tennis shoes. The ones I washede today are the 991 running shoes even though I'm not a runner. Podiatrist told me to get them when standing for long periods. They aren't cheap but a really good shoe and last. Thanks for responding.

yes I do....I wash and air dry them like you do. It's surprising that they look almost like new afterwards!

I do wash them and I dont put them in the dryer either. Put them outside on a nice day and they dry real fast. So now you have nice white tennis shoes again.LOL

They were pretty dirty since I wear them so much. Yep, they are clean now. I think they last longer when not put in the dryer. I also put them outside on a nice day. We have tons of snow on the way and it's snowing again now so they are drying in the bathroom near a vent. Thanks for responding.

I do wash tennis shoes. I don't wear them very often because of work but when I do wash them i have a rack that inserts into the dryer that I put my shoes on. So far so good. It has helped in keeping the shoes in good condition.

A rack that goes into the dryer. Is it something new or am I living in the dark ages? Thanks for responding.

I'd love to let them air dry, but it is so damp up here that it would be worse than if I never washed them at all.
