When making a new discussion, do tags help you get more responses? If so how do you decide what to use as tags?

I really don't think tags help us to get more responses. I think if we have alot of friends and they turn their alert on for us, then we get more responses from them. There are so many discussions that get posted every day that alot of ours get shoved to the backside unless our friends respond to them.

yes having friends certainly help with responses, but don't tags help with the results at the bottom of the page showing other topics of interest?

Yes. that does help you in that way but I don't think it helps us in our earnings at all though.

yes but doesn't listing on the similar topics section equate to more exposure which equates to more responses which equates to more earnings?

Well...they sure help while searching a very specific thing. But unfortunately from what i saw, posters are not tagging their discussions very specifically. Tags should be put like keywords, but a bit more specific than the whole subject, or the category of interest. For instance, most of the posters in the "life" interest put as a tag the word "life" itself....well, that wouldn't help you much in a search, would it? I am for the tags when they are precisely refering to the subject of the discussion, a keyword, or the main point.

Yes I also assumed tags should be like keywords, but I see alot of people tagging their topics with odd tags that don't seem to fit, I just wondered if the tags actually did any good at all.

if money was more more important I would use these tags..it would not hurt to go with a method over madness. but i don't like doing this too much as I have not been here long. I have had a payout of ten dollars and now this period is about 25 bucks..so that is good enough for me..i don't like reading borin manuals and should but I usually do it my way and this is my way as to me I don't want to turn this into a JOB as I just retired and had enough JOBS for a lifetime...but what do I know?

I very rarely use tags but when people search for a discussion it help them find yours when you have tags on it.

i don't think tags are very important, but i use them anyways [on every discussion and response]. it only comes in handy when your looking for a specific dicussions. im not sure if its a coincedenc but as soon as i starting using tags, i started earning more money. but don't quote me on that!

i neither use tag when start mew discussions nor use it to search discussions that i'm interested in. frankly speaking, apart from waste of time and delay my speed of post, i can't find anything useful of it. maybe it does be useful to other members,as for me,what i do is to pass it every time.

delay in posting? Really, it takes what a second to type in a couple of tags. I think in theory tags are supposed to help get responses, primarily by putting your topic in the similar discussions section at the bottom of threads that are similar to yours. I just really am not sure how well it works.

as i'm in china, the internet speed here is to slow to stand at night. i'm really troubled with tags which even come out when posting a response.while i have new ideas having seen your comment. maybe it's favourable for me to promote my discussions. thank you for your explanation.

I have found that tags are quite effective when it comes to searching for various discussions on various topics. A lot of times I have not been interested in the "interest" icons, rather I had something specific in mind that I wanted. Tags have helped me find precisely what I was looking for, on numerous occasions.
