A Newbie on AC...

I joined a long time ago but never did anything with it. Then one day I was just looking around and saw they wanted articles about hurricane prep. so I decided to get my feet wet and write something. I tend to go through phases writing over there. I tend to stick with the articles that they are paying upfront for. I haven't had one turned down doing it that way. Plus, I choose ones that I don't have to do tons of research for because they don't pay a whole lot. I am not looking to make a living over there so I just take my time and have fun with it. I just tried to look you up but couldn't find you. I have a box in my profile with my articles, maybe you can add me and then I can add you? I can't remember how my husband and I added each other, but I know I couldn't find him at first either. I definitely spend more time here, but I like it there as well. :)

Good for you! I joined almost a year ago, but only published my first article in January. I was denied a few times and got discouraged, but lately they have accepted everything I have submitted for upfront payment. That isn't much, since I haven't been writing a lot lately, but it's something. My link is in my profile, please do add me to your favorites. I will do the same for you. We could all use the support. Cool, I'll make sure to read your articles! I'm on there as well as elless. I have about 14 articles so far. I'm kind of having brain block right now and can't come up with anything meaningful. Happy writing!

I'm a member of AC as well. I've only written a few things so far. I will look for you over there and add you to my friends list. Well actually I don't have a friends list yet. I want to just repeat what others have already mentioned, don't get down when they reject something you wrote, just keep writing, and read what others are writing so you can get a better idea of what they are looking for. I had three of my articles rejected. One was a book review 5 pages long, I didn't relize they don't except book reviews.It was not a waste however. I sent it over to helium, and they published it. I signed up because I like Triond and Helium and although I think AC is a little more difficult to navigate, they do let us upload photos to illustrate our stories. I hadn't done much there, but another myLot friend encouraged me to write a few articles there so I did. I think the earnings are a bit higher on AC than on the others.

Wow, I have to put something up on AC again. I haven't written anything in months. I don't really think anything I ever submitted was much good but it almost all got published and I get these weird little hits of money on Paypal from there which is kinda sweet. I think I'm just under Marnie Taylor but it's been so darned long I can't even remember. I'll look you up. Anyway, good luck with your first article.

I actually signed up a few months back. But with all the prep before my surgery, and then the recovery time, I haven't written anything for the site yet. I've been writing for AC for almost 3 years. They have gotten much more selective on what they will accept for upfront payment. You can always submit for Performance Payments only and get immediate publication.I like AC, although I definitely make more money on other sites. i would like to know about this ac site i hear alot about people joining it and never anything really about it what is this site about?

I did sign on to AC but haven't had any time to do anything there. I can barely keep currant here. Also what they pay for articles compared to what I can make in my column and other photojournalism work I am better to put my energies into national, local magazines and newspapers. Having said that I think AC, Helium and E-how are great ways for unestablished writers to develop a following. So go for it! Wishing you every success in your new venture! Raia

I honestly have not made too much with them, but I am still just learning. I have learned it helps to read other people's articles and leave comments on them.

I have been with AC for over a year. I have made a decent amount of money there but I haven't done anything with it in a while. I have had a bad case of writers block and haven't been able to think of anything good to write about, plus I haven't had much time for it. I have countless other things I do online besides AC and Mylot and it is hard to keep up with it all but all in all AC is a good place to get paid for your writing. A friend on here actually introduced me to it. I will look you up on there and add you and send you a message. Good luck! :)
