Do You Get Your Cats In Before A Storm?

I do! Or at least I try my best to. Like tonight, we were in for a really bad storm and it was already raining, I went out in the rain in search of one of my cats, Chopper, but couldn't find him nor would he come to me. I love my cats very much and I'd worry myself sick if I didn't get one or more inside before or during a storm. I'm sure he's fine but still, I wish he would come inside.

I don't let my cats outside, and the outside cat won't come in.

That's like Mitten, she doesn't want to be around the other cats, so she won't come in.

I had a cat once that didn't want to go outside. She was really special. Now I all my cats go in and out except one and that's BB which stands for Big Boy. He's a stray that we took under our wing and he just doesn't want to come in.

LOL my cats know when there is a storm brewing hours before so they don't go out, mine are all in door cats, although we have a big garden they rather stay on my little terrace and stroll up and down the roof. Chopper is probably hiding somewhere and will come home soon keep us posted. Luv Tara xx

Sassy - Oreo's kitty - She's just as sweet as she is pretty!
My stubborn stink pot Chopper came home this morning a little wet but ok. He found shelter somewhere although it wasn't the best as home would've been which I'm sure he learned that lesson last night because it rained in sheets! Wind was howling and carrying on like a nut case! Whew! One other cat wouldn't come in is Sammy but gosh when the rain let up some, he was in the window begging to get inside!! I told him "I told you so!" lol and had to get a towel to dry him off some. He was more than happy to stay inside for the night. Chopper on the other hand is a very independant cat and won't come unless he's darn good and ready to. Same with Sammy but he came at the first chance he got. lol Here's a picture of Sassy, the one I took in for Oreo. She's a real sweetie!

Bobo - My blue point siamese - He's in his box bed all twisted up and comfortable. lol
Hi gabs! You must've had some brainy cats because none of mine will come in before a storm. But when one comes on, boy they fly to the porch and windows begging to come in, that is the ones that do come in. I'm like you, I'd rather have my babies in the house during a storm so I'll know they're safe. The storm we had last night was pretty bad in some areas, in fact, a roof flew off a house a few miles from us so I was really worried about getting Chopper and another, Sammy in but I couldn't get either one but once the storm let up some, Sammy was in the window begging to get in. lol I told him "I told you so!" lol Chopper came in this morning and he's doing fine, a little wet but fine nonetheless. Here's a picture of my Bobo. He's a sweetheart just like the others.

Hey my friend we I only let my two cats out for a brief time and they stay right around the house. So when I call them in they come running. I would be worried too. Silly cats!LOL

Rascal and Music - both are rescues - Rascal's nickname is "Bad boy!" because he got into trouble all the time as a kitten. He's a ball of fur and a ball of love.
Music is such a beautiful cat with all his stripes. He's a big cat and gosh so full of laid back easy going and love.
Hi Terry! Are you nutty kitty lovers? lol I'd say YES!! and with pride! I don't know what I'd do without my cats and dogs too of course! I had another one that wouldn't come in - Sammy but then the rain came down in sheets and when it let up some, here was Sammy in the window begging to get in!! LOL I told him "I told you so!" and had to get a towel to dry him off. He was more than happy to be inside for the rest of the night. Chopper on the other hand didn't come in till this morning. He was a little wet so what ever shelter he found wasn't all that great but he survived. He's such an independant little guy and will come when he feels he's good and ready to, just like Sammy. Here's a picture of two of my cats who did come inside, Rascal and Music.

If I know a very bad storm is approaching, I will try & get my cats inside. One of them would most likely be already inside. The other may come if I call. The latter cat has been seen sitting on our car bonnet in the middle of an electrical storm, looking for the thunder! I suspect that your cat has sensed the storm coming & has already found a good hiding spot. So, dont worry.

Sorry for being so late at responding! Your cat must not have any sense of danger to be sitting on a car in a storm. Sammy decided to come in after the storm let up for a few minutes but Chopper came in in the morning.

I would if I let my cats out. My ladies are all indoor cats. But, I would let them in before a storm if I let them out. I can relate about worrying about them. We have to hang out in a neighbor's basement if there is a tornado warning and I can't bring my girls with me. I worry about them each time. We don't have a basement or we would stay home.

OMG, I couldn't leave them behind knowing there's a chance of the tornato hitting my place. No offense hon, seriously but gosh, like hurricane Katrina, if my pets can't go then I'm not leaving. What about getting a carrier for the both of them or one for each of them so you can take them with you so they'll be safe? I'd be worried sick if I had to leave them behind which I would never do. I have 9 cats and some how they're all going with me where ever I go such as moving or shelter. They're my babies. lol I have 5 dogs too and they're all like family.

Trust me! I hate it but, it isn't my house. I do have 3 carriers for all 3 of them. And, my neighbors have 2 dogs with storm stress. If I could take them, I would. But, I can't as my neighbors already have their 2 kids, their two dogs, and us to worry about. The hubby and I have decided that, while we love our home, the next house we get will have a basement. It was a mistake that we learned from And, my cats and dog are like my kids. I am usually choking back tears when we leave them behind to seek shelter with the neighbors.

I know how you feel. Once in awhile, when you think that any animal with sense would want to come inside, one or more of my kitties decides to spend a night out. I happen to know that they hide under the porches, though. I worry more about them running in to wild brothers and cousins like fox, possums, skunks, raccoons, and other cats. I know that they can find warm places, but so can those others.

Gracie - My seal point siamese - This is my spoiled rotten baby girl!
I'm a worry wart and I know it but I can't help it because they're my babies. Like you, I worry about them getting hurt and running into the wild but then again, I know they're happy being free and able to climb trees, chase leaves and each other among all the other things that they do so if they were to get killed, it would break my heart in two no doubt but I'll know that at least they were happy doing what they love best. It's the only consolation I get but it sure beats having them be miserable inside when they so love being outdoors. Now if one of my cats doesn't like going out, I wouldn't make them. My cat Gracie doesn't like going out for long so I have to keep an eye on her because I know she'll be wanting back in soon after she goes out. Here's a picture of her. She's my baby girl.

LOL my Tia won't even consider going out in the rain and wind - she will go to the door and cry and we will laugh , open it and watch her run back through the house! I can't imagine her staying out during a storm but then again most cats are very clever and will keep themselves somewhere safe and dry if they are caught outside! xxx

Sammy - he adopted us - He is a skittish sweetheart. Scared of his own shadow. Say boo and he's GONE!
Isn't it funny how they're all so darned different?! lol I have 9 cats and every one of them are different but I love each and every one of them! I had another one that wouldn't come in but he's skittish as all get out. His name is Sammy. He's a stray that adopted us and won't come to us until he's good and ready to. I tried to get him to come to me or hoped he'd stay still long enough for me to go to him but he took off every time so I had no choice but to give up but let me tell ya, when the rain came down in sheets, literally, and then it let up some, he was in my window immediatly!! LOL I said to him "I told you so!!" and had to get a dry towel to dry him off. He was more than happy to be inside then! lol
