I see many signs in yards to vote for somebody. Do you read the signs? Do you consider voting for the person on the sign? I don't read the signs in yards and would never put one in my yard. Is there a particular sign that catches your eye more than others? Its clear based on the number of signs on my street somebody likes to show their support in this way.

I actually think the signs are very effective for lower level offices. I think they mean very little for the presidential election, but here in Florida there are many other votes that go on at the same time for congressmen, judges, and other local offices. Most people have no idea who any of these lower level politicians are so they either vote along party lines, or they vote for the most familiar name. There was one guy in Orlando named Wesley who made all his signs look like Wendy's signs just with Wesley written on them instead. It sure helped him get elected even though nobody knew who he was.

I don't read them nor would I put one in my yard. lol I would however put a warning sign up for one of the candidates. I found out that one of the candidates wants to put the small business owner out of business! I would love to put a warning sign DO NOT VOTE for ....... I don't want to say names, as I don't want any back lash, but if you do the research on them, one has a book out and it is in the book and they say that if you make 200,000 or more, you will have to give 60% of your money back for taxes. That would put me and my friends out of business. lol I don't make that much, but who knows how business will be later on in my life. So no I don't read or put up signs, but I would love to put that up and make everyone read it. lol

Thank you for giving me another way to look at signs. I laughed reading your response each time I read it.

I tend to ignore the signs on people's lawns, It doesn't matter to me who is voting for whom. All I care about is who I am interested in voting for. I'm Canadian, so I can't vote in the American election, but up in Canada we have those darn signs too, whne it comes time to vote.

even if you do not like the signs and do not read them I think the subconscious eye picks up on it and it is therefore registered in your mind - that name is now familiar and we tend to like things that are familiar as there is a comfort in that. but if it is for the dems all familiarity does for me is "breed contempt" lol. I rarely see an Alan Keyes sign wish I would see more of those, he is so brushed aside which helps me think he is the better choice.

I'm sure some people do think of the name when seeing a sign. One thing I am sure is somebody is voting that way or there wouldn't be so many signs. Thanks for the reply.

I live in Indiana so we will not start seeing signs until about April, But there is times that you go by homes' and it looks as if they have their own picket fence up of signs. Signs do not do mcuh for me. I usually already no who I am voting for anyways.

One of my neighbors has them displayed like a picket fence. He told me earlier today he is hoping to change my opinion and vote for a different party. I said it won't work. If I did change parties, the signs would not be the reason. Thanks for the reply.
