Have you heard that the Quaker Oat company is recalling some of their pan cake mixes. It is only a small number and that no one has become ill from the potential salmonella contamination. They are recalling the f Aunt Jemima Pancake & Waffle Mix: Original, Original Complete and Buttermilk Complete product in 2 pound and 5 pound boxes with best-before dates of Feb. 8, 2009 through Feb. 16, 2009 stamped on the top. It is getting so you don't want to buy any thing in the food line any more. If I had bought this product I would have had it partially used already. how about you.

Thank you for the alert! It has not even made the news in B.C.! I do not ever use pre-package mixes, but I have friends that do, will pass the news on...and Thank you!

They didn't report where the mixes went but I sure wouldn't want to take a chance with them.

Got me thinking after I posted my response...my son goes on an annual camping trip every Easter and course, one of the things they take along is pancake mix. You've alerted me, and I thank you, now I have my research to do. Cheers.

Thanks for this information. I've got some pancake mix, but it is a generic kind. It does seem like there sure is a lot of recalls in the last few years. Does make one leary of knowing what is safe to eat anymore.

I also read another discussion about a bleach recall from Fred's. you just wonder how many product that don't get recalled get to the consumer. It get more scary all the time.

I wonder if all the recalls are due to better reporting now? Maybe people are quicker to complain if they know they'll get results. I don't eat pancakes often and always make them from scratch, but there are so many other recalls, I wish I could grow all of my own food.

I make my hotcakes and waffles from scratch, but I used to use the Aunt Jemina Pancake, especially the buckwheat kind, years ago when we were first married and when we wanted something quick. As for as food recalls, it is better than waiting until someone gets sick. I do not understand how they could get out, it must be a bit of careless in the production. Maybe it is hiring these people who work for the cheap. People who do not get paid enough are too busy working to pay attention and their supervisors do not care. What is happening in China is now happening in America. I do hope something is done.

wow plastic in the granola bars. I don't know if I would want to take a chance on eating them after that even if they did send coupons.
