Guys, I got this from an email.. and just wants to share to everyone who might be interested or is very much into noodles... please beware Dear instant noodle lovers, Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking. If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together. Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together. The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti! There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.

I am not really sure where it is that you live, but in the United States everything that we eat has to go through screening before ending up at the store. And if something was that terrible to the health of consumers it would not be sold in American stores. Guess I got lucky for living in this country.

I think the biggest fear when it comes to "top ramen" type products is the amount of sodim that is found within the product.

This isn't the first time i've heard about that. I think it was my grandmother who told me before. However I am usually a big instant noodle fan, and I have family who certainly are as well. Thank you for providing this information for everyone. I think I will be doing some investigating on my own. I am just starting to wish I lived on a farm. I could grow my own food and not have to worry about all this nonsense. LOL

hi chiyosan, I love eating Chinese food be it noodles, hot and sour soup or wantons and i do eat instant noodles many a times but not always and somehow i donot beleive this story at all because if it was so harmful and cause cancer than the food authorities would never let it come to the market. The mail which you must have got must be some kind of chain letter . As we all know most chain letters are imagination of idle brains who would send anything without thinking. Yes i agree instant noodles are not very good for health but to say they are coated by wax is beyond my understanding because i eat Maggi Instant Noodles , a product on Nestle. If it caused cancer then it would cause such a big controversy and the company would be saddled with billions of dollars of court cases or govt would have forced it to print warning like they do on cig packs on India that smoking can cause lung cancer.

I could not resist checking this claim out at snopes.com as it sounds just far fetched enough to be true - but I want to make sure before I panic... though I did not think wax was terribly dangerous remember all those wax lips and straws we ate during our childhood octobers? snopes did not reveal (that I have found) anything about this particular claim - but did rule the wax from instant noodles containers lining the stomach walls to be false, I am thinking that this new scare is just an updated version of the decades old one. http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/noodles.asp

generally, it is not healthy to eat instant noodles on the daily basic. I totally agree with you to keep a gap of about 2-3 days before consuming another instant noodles. however, I think this email that you got is a general email written to bring down China's products. Isn't it weird it is only mentioning things related to China?
