Celebrating Fifteen Months With Mylot and Newfound Friends... What Is A Friend?

I've been with Mylot now for fifteen months, and I've met a lot of extra special people here, whom I'm proud to call my friends. Whilst thinking about friends this evening, I jotted down this poem, which concerns friends. I hope you like it, and perhaps you can give me some feedback on whether this is how you view your friends, or is there something you would add to it?
A friend you will find where your paths cross one day
And something just tells you they're here now, to stay,
They're loyal and hones, no secrets to hide
And when they succeed, fill you heart full with pride.
They're there when you need them, through thick and through thin,
They hold out their hand with a loveable grin,
Wipe away tears when you're heavy of heart,
And hug you in greeting, again when you part.
A friend will say sorry for hurting your pride,
They'll play cheering songs when you're hurting inside,
They'll listen to problems in comforting way
And share their discernments, when they go astray.
They'll encourage, support you in all that you do,
They'll know when to leave you in solitude, too,
They'll share disappointments as well as good news,
They'll calm you with care when you're blowing a fuse.
Whatever life brings you, they'll be by your side,
They'll laugh with you, cry with you, be your life guide,
They'll stick with you faithfully, right to the end,
You'll never lose hope with an honest, loyal friend.
Please be honest... I value your opinions and your criticism.

Well done on the 15 months sweety - I am a couple of months behind and I too have had the chance to make some wonderful friends, to laugh and cry with them, support them and have that support returned threefold when I needed it! We have seen so many hard, sad and bad times as well as joys, celebrations and pride - we are a wonderful community are we not?
I love your poem and wishj I had a fraction of your talent sweetheart! Well done and here is to the next 15 months! Slainte Mhath xxx

Thank you, and well done you, on your 13 months, my dear friend. It's been an eye-opener joining this site. Yes, we have found some wonderful friends here, and although sometimes things get rough and we feel pain and shed tears for our friends, there are times when we laugh, and share our family joys as well, and that's what makes Mylot so great. There is always a hug and a cheering word for those who are sad, and prayers and energies are channeled to those who need them. What would we do without the site... I'm hooked!
Thank you for your kind words regarding my poem. If it's a talent, it's one I like to share with my friends, and indeed those whom I've not had the pleasure of meeting, because being able to share my thoughts and feelings is the most rewarding gift I can have bestowed on me. I hope I can give a lot of people, many happy hours of reading.
Thank you too for the Gaelic greeting. I believe that means "Cheers, Good Health", and I return the salutation. I'm so happy to have found such a wonderful friend in you, Mummymo, and hope we will be friends for a very long time.
Slainte Mhath, to you, with my Brightest Blessings. xxxxx

Thank you Weemam, my dear friend. Those words are especially treasured by me, as they come from one who writes great poems. I think you and I should start writing Country and Western songs about our lives, don't you? ha ha ha
I'm pleased you like it and I'm so glad I came to Mylot and found you amongst so many lovely friends. You've all been an inspiration to me, and I hope we'll be friends for a very long time.
Brightest Blessings. xxx

You're welcome, my dear friend. We could set it to music but I'll leave out the karaoke side... I think we'll have to decide who can best deliver our work in song. :) Any ideas? lol.
I haven't had a good old bop in quite a while, so I might take you up on that one. It's time I let my hair down, here.
Brightest Blessings.

Thank you, Sweetheart. I don't know what to say to that, except that you relate to at least part of my poem, and I think I could add a few more qualities, like strong, and positive in your outlook, whilst embracing the troubled friend.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxx

Hello Darkwing,
This is what really bugs me. I mean, I can write a short reviews about a certain topic, blog anything and everything EXCEPT writing a poem. Just look at you, you're brilliant.
Every single words you wrote are very true. It is a poem that bespoke of your love for your friends. I don't think anyone can survived without friends.
Believe it or not, I have met more online friends than in real life. This is just one of the mystery behind the Internet. How it was able to brought people from all over the world to come together.
I basically treat online friends the same way as I treat my offline friends. I feel blessed to meet all of you. You as well as the others has been wonderful and for that, I will always treasure it. Thanks for being my friend. =)

Hi Charms! You know, we all have our own ways of writing things. Some can write reviews, some can compose a great letter, or story and others can write in poetry how they feel. When you have a talent for one or more of these things, the words just come to you. I started to think how long I'd been with Mylot, and how many wonderful friends I'd met here... friends whom I hope will be around for a very long time. I then started to think of them individually, and aliken their qualities and the qualities I have to contribute to friendship, and the words started flowing to my mind. From then, I just jot down the keywords I want to say, and turn them around, replace them with similar meaning, rhyming words, and there you go. It took me about 35-40 minutes to write it. That doesn't mean to say that poetry is the only way to express one's feelings though. There are all sorts of great quotations and stories out there. You have a talent my friend... you can write reviews, and probably short stories, toboot.
Anyway, enough already... thank you for your very kind words. I agree with you about meeting friends from all over the World, people we would never have known but for the Internet and Mylot, and I'm very happy to know them.
I will always treasure your friendship too, Sweetheart, and bless the day I found you and all my other friends here. Brightest Blessings. xx

Well, I'm a Libra, and one of the personality traits of a Libra is their romantic side. We love music and art, and the finer things in life. We value our friendships and deeper relationships and will protect them at all costs. We're supposedly very loyal friends and lovers, with a love of dining out, moonlight walks and all things romantic. :)
So, I guess I can't correct you, my dear friend, for you are right! Take care. xxx

Awwww, thank you. I have seen you around and possibly popped into the same discussions as you over that time, but we've only recently become friends. Strange, the way of the World sometimes. I'm very happy to have found you too, my dear friend.
Brightest Blessings. x

Yes, of course they can, and some of them will become friends at some stage, as well.
There are a few negative people on here as well though, my friend, but they are few and far between, niggling whilst they are here, but short-lived on the whole! :) I also didn't mention how friends rally round in Mylot and protect you against these negative people. So, friends are very valuable indeed. Acquaintances will come and go, but friends stay on forever.
Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. I hope we will stay friends for a very long time, for you have, in my estimation, a lot of the qualities in my poem, and I treasure that. x

Thank you so much, my dear friend. I know where you're coming from. It seems to me that the people in Mylot are of a special breed. If I could find the guy who referred me to this place, I'd give him a big, big hug for leading me to these wonderful friends.
Brightest Blessings. xxxx

That was really good. I have only been on my lot for three to four weeks) and like it a lot so far. I am glad that you have made some good friends. I hope to make some good friends. Haven't had much luck with that though.

If there's one thing I can guarantee you, it's that you will make some good friends, and soon. It takes a little while for people to get to know you and link with your interests and discussions, but they will.
I was a bit cheeky, when I read that, and went and looked at your friends list. You have some very nice people in there, who are also on my list, so you're headed the right way to make some real good friends. I am sending you a request myself, and hope that you'll add me. :)
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution.
