This is outrageous. Just when I thought I had heard it all, I hear this. Now I am normally the one who panicks without cause, but this time I have reason to panick as this turns my stomach. They say that there are prescription drugs in our drinking water. What do you think of this?

Good point there lilybug. I don't think I have ever flushed medicines down the toilet. They are usually all used up and I just throw the empty containers away. Hmmm this is really serious, I don't like what I am reading - not good at all!

Oh my gosh ..."--The drinking water for Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas tested positive for six pharmaceuticals" AND "officials in six of those 28 metropolitan areas said they did not go on to test their drinking water — Fairfax, Va.; " hello I live in the area and they don't test the drinking water? Just as well I don't drink tap water but buy bottled water instead. Still, I think that is terrible and disgusting. I feel sick reading that story.

Youu may want to read your bottled water. I was reading in the AP article today that some bottled water is affected as well because it is just tap water.

It is scary. It seems we can't get away from poisoning our bodies. There is something that is not good for us in everything.

I think that they say this because a lot of people flush their medicines. Which as we all know you aren't supposed to do. We are stuck buying bottled water anyway because when we first moved in here we got a letter from the landlord and the water test company about led in the water. Apparently three of the homes tested positive for lead. Our mobile home may or may not have lead in the water, but I can't take that chance. So, most of our food stamps go to bottled water. Since we have to use the bottled water in everything from cooking to drinking. I will have to check out that link in minute to read the article.

It is a little inconvenient, but it's better than risking drinking the possible lead water.

Oh my gosh! This is so scary! What else is scary is they have found high levels of formaldehyde in peoples bodies after they die. How may products in the store contain Quaternium-15 or Q-15 which most people don't know is a form of formaldehyde! The chemical companies are so out of control it isn't even funny! The government has stopped protecting our health and safety and started protecting their poctebooks!

And since bottled water actually comes from those sources as well, then we are stuck. I know that they have in the last year been telling us not to flush our outdated meds, for just this reason. Now they say to mix outdated meds in with kitty litter to dispose of them. It seems to me that they will still dissolve and get into our ground water. I do not know what we should be doing with the outdated meds that we may be stuck with. I found it interesting that different areas have different things in their water supply. This is something that concerns me.

I heard about this too this afternoon and it is alarming but not surprising at all. Think of it this way, we are what we eat and so if we take medicine, well, it does have to come out just as our food does so for it to show up in our streams comes as no surprise to me. We do have a filtering system for our water but I don't know if it does any good or not since the water plant can't filter it out, which makes no sense to me because why the heck can't they? They're suppose to be able to filter out any inpurities in our water....?!?!

You have the right to feel like that. That's carelessness they are very careless in doing that. They have to do about it. Are you sure that's only they found out maybe there is more that they hide. So what will they do now?

I'd say this was done on purpose to get people sick so they spend more money on health care....it could be possible...I dont trust anyone in authority especailly with what is going on in this world....all peopel care about is money and they will hurt people in the process as long as it means a gain for them.

wow...that really puts the phrase "must be something in the water" in perspective! In a way, I think that explains A LOT...no wonder people have high toxicity or are sensitive to certain meds etc. geez, I'm going to be thinking twice about drinking our water!

I have just read your link and I am quite shocked, to read as well where we actually get our drinking water from too is quite disturbing! I just never think of things like that, I guess its just taken for granted that I am drinking clean water and dont spend time pondering where its come from and whats in it. I dont drink a lot of water on its own, but I drink masses of coffee which of course is made from tap water. I might start making it with bottled water I buy from the shop, but there is no guarantee with that either.

I was like that too gemini - took for granted that tap water was fine to use for cooking and all sorts. I too drink an enormous amount of coffee and bottled water and neither are safe! this is not good news!

yes, Rozie37, were doing that, in fact, because for the moment we cannot use the tap water. The company servicing that is installing a new water line in our area and the service is off. The water we use for bathing though is being delivered to us.

I do not think so, because we drink Mineral water here, not from tap water.
