Will you often succeed in your first cooking recipe?

I think I am talented in cooking. And it's likely I will succeed to cook the new recipe for the first time. On this weekend I made cookies at home. Frankly, I think the cost is high and it's better to buy it rather than cooking it at home. But making cookies at home is very interesting. Besides, the taste is so nice because I added enough good ingredients. And I also have professional tools at home to bake. And today I learned a good news. The bakery e-store has a real store and it locates nearby my home. That means to say I can go there to buy baking ingredients and tools easily.

I'm not good in that. Usually I need to try it for about 3-4 times to succeed.

Hello dear youless. I am very glad to learn that you are learning cookies these two days. That is why I have not seen your posts increase very fast in the past few days. It is a good idea to always learn something new. I have to say that I am not a good chef at all. I can only do some simple cooking for my own consumption. I hope that you will upload one of the pictures about the cookies that you have made for us to enjoy though we cannot taste it. lol. Keep up, youless. Good night.

You really pay attention to it, what a surprise:) Actually Saturday and Sunday are my family time, so I will spend more time with them and especially want to spend more time with my son because he is very little. I am so sorry, the cookies are just so delicious and we already finished them:) I didn't take photos for it, what a pity! Actually these weekends I also made mashed potato and a baked chicken. My son liked eating them a lot.

I don't bake...so I can't talk on that part. But most often than not my first attempts at a new recipe is a huge success.....like my husband says...it's my later attempts at the same recipe that flops! I can never get the initial success....so that leaves me with no choice than to keep trying out new recipes all the time.

lol...I know that's the way it sounded....but I'm not a dunce at cooking. And having learnt to cook only after my first child was a year old, I must say I made great progress. It's only with new recipes...that I don't get the great success at my second attempt. It's probably the expectation more than anything that works against me. But it's not bad that no one can eat it.

The key is to know your oven. My oven runs a little hot so I always have to adjust the baking time.

It's hard to adjust to the baking time. So I will check it now and then.

Nope I never succeed the first time I try things LOL I'm useless in the kitchen but I do try. It may take me a couple of tries before I get it (may not be 100% but its close enough). As long as my hubby and son eat it all up, I'm fine with that.

Succeed in the first time is not common to me, if I get success at the first time, there is more chance that i will never success in the late time. I think cooking is a art, you have to spend more time to know it well and feel the beauty of it. So after several times try, then find the best way for yourslef to prepare it is good enough.

just like you i think i have also talent in cooking. since i was a kid i am always at the kitchen giving my mom a hand or my dad. yes they both know how to cook. my mom is the normal type that cooks what is the ingredient and my dad is the type who would love to experiment. i always cook the same as them. i cook based on what i saw or read then when i will try that certain recipe i am like my dad who will try to experiment to give the recipe a different verssion or a different kick.

Hi. I do like cooking, and I think I'm pretty good at it. I'm not so good at baking though. I can bake muffins and cakes but ai have to be really careful that I get the consistency of the mixture right before I bake it. I must admit though, I'm terrible at baking biscuits and cookies! They never turn out quite right. They're either too soft or too hard. The last batch of cookies i made turned into one big giant cookie on the tray and I had to throw the whole tray in the bin because the cookie was stuck to it! I shall try again sometime...

ha ha ha ha ha... I guess it is a natural born talent of yours then. Most of the time when I follow the recipe to a tee, it doesn't really come out the way I expect it to be. Will require a few tweaking of the recipe over a few tries to get it perfect.

Typically when I am making a new recipe it turns out well. The first time I make something new I try to follow the recipe exactly just to make sure I did everything right in case it does not turn out right. I cannot think of a specific example of a time when something I made following a recipe did not turn out well, so I think it is safe to say it does not happen very often.

Generally speaking, yes, I think. But I did not try that much times because I spent most of my time at school since I was 15. When I go back home now, my mum of my youngest sister will do the cooking. My sisters and I cooked together sometimes. We did not hava a recipe and we just cooked as we like. Dishes might turn out to be not that delicious. But we are the ones who eat them. Thus just enjoy the fun. I think you are a great mother and your kids are really happy. In my opinion, having a mun who is good at cooking and enjoy cooking is really great. By the way, my mum is a good cook as well.

Yes, store bought cookies are less expensive, but they just do not taste as good as the ones you make at home. As you have said, you can put really good ingredients in them. I find that the initial start up for baking may be high, but if I store the dry ingredients, then I do not have to go out and buy them all at one time again, and that makes them less expensive in the long run. I have to go right now, I have cookies fresh in the oven to get out.

And you know, the time cost is also high when you make your own cookies at home. But the happiness is priceless:)

I like trying new dishes and often alter recipes to make them healthier or to use ingredients I have around. Most of the time it turns out well...but every once in a while... :) I like making things from scratch. It's much healthier, I know exactly what's in it (not a bunch of artificial junk), and it's often cheaper.

I cook a lot since, since i don't enjoy fast food or those box food and it is also cheaper then eating in restaurants. I don't know if i am often succeed in my first cooking recipe , since I never really follow it. I would read the main things and then add my own things, so then no wonder if i screw up some recipe. lol

that's nice. i usually get it the first time but then i never get it right the next times because i often cook spontaneously and i never use measurements. it's a bad habit i guess, because i can never cook the same thing as good twice.

My family loves cooking. We learned cooking from my father. I guess when you grow up cooking, it's quite easy for you to understand the way to cook a new dish or recipe even if it's your first time. If you love cooking, you will enjoy it no matter how simple or complicated it might be. I guess, you have the talent to cook, so keep it up. Enjoy cooking!
