i am not talking about delicate clothes for i know that many people prefer to wash their clothes by hands. i mean hand wash jeans, tsirt and other clothes. i just can imagine how hard that would be. that may hurt my back if i will do that. i was born seeing a washing machine around the house though the first machine i saw has no dryer yet. so do you still see people in your place hand washing their clothes?

Yes here in india still a major part of the population is washing clothes by hand. Actually a major part of the working class is here are blue collared employes and for them having washing machines is not an easy option. I personally have a IFB washing machine which is used by my maid for washing apart from ones which carry embroidery etc.

i usually just dump my clothes in the washing machine. but for some delicate clothes and most of my working clothes i'll hand wash it. it is hard work and takes hours of my time!

I do that sometimes, but it's really hard to do. I would prefer to use our laundry mat place. They have big washing machines and dryers. And low cost too. They pay for electricity to use. And costs just a dollar per load. Not bad, considering the time saving element.

Yes, in our place the Philippines, a lot of people are doing handwashing. We have someone whom we pay who washes our clothes and we pay her for the job. What she does is soak the clothes with water and detergents soap for about 30 to 40 minutes and after that do the handwash. Its kind of a heavy job but if its soaked prior to washing, the dirt and stains are very easy to remove.

Here almost every family will have a washing machine at home. Actually I haven't seen which one doesn't have it. It is a main electrical appliance for a family. So we don't have to wash clothes by hand. Perhaps some will still use hands to wash the underwears.

Where I come from most people use a washing machine, some people still hang dry their clothes but not hand wash. Other than certain moviesand TV, I can't say that I have ever seen anyone hand wash their clothes.

NO!!! I mean i stil wash certain shirts and dresses with my hands, becuase i dont want them ruined by the washing machine. But as far as washing other types of clothing such as sweaters and jeans.....I DONT THINK SO. Yes that would be a headache in todays world all on its own. But i wouldnt put it past anyone. Peole will surprise you with the things that they do now.

No everyone in my house uses the washing machine, I don't see the point in having a washing machine and the washing things by hand. I also hate the feel of the detergent and my skin does not agree with water very well, so other than washing and raining I tend not to touch water.

Well, here in the US I don't see anybody washing by hand. They are born with washing machine around them like you do. But I used to do that when I was yet in my country. I have washing machine in the later years when I was still there but most people in the country where I come from wash their clothes by hand. Yes, it is truly back aching.. washing plenty of clothes by hand. But it is more clean than using the washing machine. The only thing is that it takes time and very laborious. Have a good day.

yes there are a lot who still use their hands to wash clothes. some people also earn al iving by washing others clothes. i think it is more clean if the clothes are washed by hands and because i am sooooo busy i cant do that anymore. i used to hand wash my kids clothes specially the times when they are still toodlers.

Yeah, our maid still do that since the aunt of my hubby won't let her used the washing machine except if she will be washing the bedsheets blankets, curtains, etc. So, what she normally do is soak the clothes first on water for like 3 hours or more. Then soak it to a water mixed with laundry soap for the same number of hours. After that, she will start to wash it using her hands. It's a tedious work because I used to do that with my own clothes.

I am working in China right now and the students in the dorm behind my apartment always hand wash their clothes. I tried a couple of times while I was on vacation and I didn't like it. I got spoiled in America. Now I hang my clothes to dry instead of using a dryer and it is awful having to wait for days for clothes to dry, especially when it isn't warm.
