Do you wear sunglasses? Are you dependent on them?

I accidently left my sunglasses at my mom's house last week and boy am I regretting it! Even though where I live we might only get a sunny day every few weeks I can't seem to drive or go outside without my sunglasses! I have even worn them sometimes when it is raining while driving because my eyes hurt too much without them! Since I wear glasses, they are prescription sunglasses so unfortunately can't just get a pair at the dollar store! I can't wait to get them back! Some people I know don't wear sunglasses at all - I have no idea how they can stand it! Mine usually never leave my head - I probably look goofy to some people - always one pair on my face & another pair of glasses on top of my head! (Hey, they make a good headband, too!) What about you? Do you wear sunglasses? Are you dependent on them?

I used to wear sunglasses only in summer until I moved to the coast. The glare of the sun is greater when it is over the ocean and in winter the sun is low in the sky so the glare is strong on clear days. I get a headache if I don't wear sunglasses when the sun is strong.

you are lucky to not "need" them the way I do! I could barely drive my son to school this morning!

I started wearing sunglasses as an adult and don't know how I got along without them before! My eyes are very sensitive to light, even though they are brown. My optometrist said he never saw a brown eyed person who was as sensitive to light as I was. I wear eyeglasses, too, so I had a prescription pair of sunglasses made and even wear them on cloudy and snowy days to reduce the glare.

I didn't know eye color made a difference! But I could understand why. Sunglasses are a life saver in the snow!

I used to wear sunglasses, but I finally gave up after kids came along. When they were little (the kids, not the sunglasses), the sunglasses seemed to become something to teethe on. Then, they got to be toys (the sunglasses, not the children) and were, if found, scratched. So, I don't really rely on them any more.

kids can really do a number on glasses - scratch resistant coating & 100% warranties/accident insurances are a must!

I am goofy when it comes to my sun glasses, I never remember to put them on when I get in the car, and then I will find myself squinting from the sun, an then I smack myself in the head and put them on. It's funny I don't remember to put them on until I find myself physically squinty.

Yes, I wear sunglasses, but I am not dependent on them all the time. I wear them only during certain times of the day when it is sunny out (say, when a car visor won't help) or if my eyes are sensitive that day to the sun and glare outside. I usually only wear them when I am driving though and rarely wear them when I'm walking around outdoors, though I probably should to protect my eyes...

driving does seem to be worse without the glasses - and it is very important to be able to see if cars are coming and not squinting because the sun is in your eyes!

I like to have them for driving - though I am so dependent upon my eyeglasses that I need to get sunglasses extra big to fit over my regular glasses - then they tend to slip down off my nose... someday when I buy new eye glasses I will have them coat my current glasses with sun protection...

Hello vera5d :) Yes, I wear sunglasses all the time. Before I leave home, I double-check if I have it with me. Especially here in our country where its always and sunny, we need them all through out the day. But there are also a lot of people here who don't wear them. And I wonder why too because I know how uncomfortable it is without sunglasses. And when I'm indoors, like inside the bank or malls, I wear them like headbands like you :)

I think it is impolite to wear them while talking to somebody at the store for example...the headband thing is great - no digging through a purse or worrying if you have them or not or if they will get scratched!

I had considered the lens that change but never did it because they tend to make your eyes look darker even when they shouldn't!

When I used to wear contact lenses I could wear sunglasses and I loved it because I never wore them for about 25 years so when I did get them it was a novelty to be able to wear sunglasses. But then after wearing contact lenses for about 1o years I can no longer wear them because I now have to wear bifocals and contact lenses don't really come that way, I am wearing glasses again. I have been wearing glasses again for about 5 years and I hate them. I can't wear sunglasses anymore and I hate having these things on my face all day and night long. But my eye sight is so bad I have no choice but to wear them, I can't even get up in the night to go to the bathroom without putting on my glasses. As soon as I can, after I move this Thursday, I am going to see if I can get laser surgery.

I had Lasik surgery 3 years ago so, I don't need them for a prescription but, I do wear them almost every time I go outside. I am very protective of my eyes. I know that there are still ultraviolet rays that can do damage even on an overcast day so, when I am out wearing my sunglasses, I see most people aren't wearing them. Plus, I have a little bit of light sensitivity so, where most people can just deal with it, it really makes me uncomfortable.

I don't know how people do it - some said above it depends on eye color which I never knew before! You are brave to do the Lasik, I have considered it but I am flat out way too chicken, lol :)

I make it a point to wear sunglasses, whenever I go outside. While driving also, in a day time, I prefer wearning sun glasses. Most of the time Sun is so hot and intense that if I do not wear sunglasses, it really becomes difficult to drive for me. It gives protection from sunlight, dust and other such things. I have been wearing it for many years.

Actually, I love sunglasses but can't wear them b/c I have to wear prescription glasses. My old pair of glasses had a tint to them and Hubby had a pair that lightened and darkened according to the light around him. If I wasn't blind as a bat though, I'd definately be wearing sunglasses. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Yes, I wear sunglasses all the time. I guess you could say I am dependent on them. It has to be very, very overcast before I don't need them. Like you, I still have to sometimes wear them in the rain. It is not about the sun with me but rather about how bright it is. I have a sister that uses her sunglasses as headbands too, always has something on her head.

I seldom wear sunglasses as I found that troublesome. I don't mind the sunshine and actually I like it. I am not a celebrity, so I don't have to wear sunglasses I don't want to sunglasses cover my beautiful eyes

I am one of those who does not wear sunglasses, although I used to use them as a headband, too, especially when my hair was really long. Once a college professor had the effrontery to demand that I take them off in class, saying that having them on my head was "disrespectful" whereupon I said that I respectfully disagreed and that my wearing them was protected under the constitution. Being an exchange instructor from a different country and unfamiliar with US law, that one threw me out of class, along with a young man who was accused of chewing gum. Of course, we were reinstated the next day, because it was an issue of free expression and how I wore my hair was none of the professor's business. Times sure have changed!
