Why do we need to have a notify button and get emails every time a friend...

I was also surprised to receive email notifications about the discussions and even the best responses I was given by the discussion starters... Luckily I do not have a lot of friends in mylot and therefore there is little clearing to do.. I quickly go to my preference and disabled the email notifications straightaway and I suggest you to do the same too.. I think the mylot admins just enabled that as default when they implemented the new feature and probably they didn't know that most people would prefer those to be off instead...

I use the notify button, so the questions can be placed in e-mail boxes by priority. I have one box for answer that day, specially fish questions, as members normally need help quickly, the next one answer that week and another for answer when I have time. The rest I delete. I'm a busy woman and there are days where I have little time. If I just come on the board others will shift questions to the bottom that are the most important to answer. The fluff questions always get lots of posts on this board.

Sometimes a member will respond to many old discussions of friends then this drops the new ones way down the list. So that is the main reason I use the email notify feature for ALL my friends here. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I use the notification for all my friends because I get their new posts. When you go to " discussions my friends started" you get to see the posts that people have commented on. they may or may not be the new posts.Besides , this way I get to choose from more discussions.

Some of us, like myself, like the notify on so we'll know who's started discussions instead of having to take the time to search for them. I just found another who doesn't have theirs on either and that's fine by me. It's a case of to each his own.

I have my notification buttons turned on so I don't miss out on any of the discussions my friends started. I use an email address just for mylot and that way I don't have to search through all my other emails. I also like to keep my email address empty which is what I do with my other email address, but my mylot email always has over a thousand emails in it. I like it this way also, because I am always behind and by the time I get to the discussion if it is going to be dleted it is by then. I have recently moved from Winnipeg to Calgary and so I haven't been online for over two weeks and I have over 3000 emails from mylot. I am going through the older ones first and responding where I can. This way this old discussion, which is 4 weeks old, comes back to the top of your list and hopefully you will get more responses to it which means you will continue to make more money from it, I think.

If I did not get the emails I would never make any responses as I do not like to have to search myLot for new discussions.

That is how I find my discussions to respond to is come here. Then I go to the friends list and go down those. Most of my discussions that I respond to have been from coming here. I only have a handful that I have the notify checked. The rest I just come here. To me that is more interesting. I can see all the discussions that any of my friends have started. As you say having notified on could sure fill up a email address.
