At what age...

first go with everything i read says a child should self ween. but also says both parties may be psycholigicly not ready when physically time to. most articals say this should occur around 2-3 years of age. reality is when its right for you is when its right, have heard of occasions of this lasting till age 5 or 6, do i agree personally no, but as of today i have yet to see a manual for raising a child that applies to every situation with every child in every culture. so i say do what seems right to u. i cant say when i would first im a guy second no kids think its something that have to partner related and have to go in with somewhat an open mind. and be willing to come to a compermise if nessasary

I nursed all of mine until they turned about 1. That being said, I think it is different for everyone. BUT, I think it is pretty strange to nurse your child past a certain age... I knew a woman that was nursing her child when he was 5. I think there gets to be a certain "ewwww" factor when the kid can go to school and is still nursing...

I agree with the anwer above. I personally would not want to be nursing after 18 months but if people choose to do it until their child is about 3 then that's fine. I do agree though that it's a bit gross after that. Saying that, it's supposed to be possible and healthy up until aged 7 so who am I to argue with nature. Still, once a child is at school, it's going to be embarrassing for them even if there is no other reason not to do it.

I nursed mydaughter for 6 weeks I planned on 6 months but for certain reasons it didnt go that far. I think by the time they are one then its time to quit.
