we live on food bank food a lot, and so I always have a lot of kraft dinner, boxes and boxes of it.
When I grew up, it was kraft dinner on the side with weiners, what americans call hotdogs but without the buns,
I noticed some people make it and add hamburger meat do it to make a more substantial meal,
do you eat it and if so
how do you make it,
any interesting recipes that I could use?

We like Kraft dinner sometimes. We call it hamburger helper here in my household. We add hamburger to it also. We like to eat it as a side dish also if we make our own hamburgers or hotdogs.
You can make hamburger helper which only requires you to add some fried hamburger meat to it.
You can add any kjind of meat though. It all depends on what you have available.

I love Mac and cheese. But yeah we used to add all kinds of things to our to make it different. Cause as much as you love it you can only handle it tasting one way the same sometimes day after day. We have added tuna to it. Here is a good one.
Cheddar Macaroni Beef Casserole.
1pkg of kraft mac and cheese dinner
1 lb ground beef
1 can italian sytle stewed tomatoes, undrained
1/2 teaspoon of oregano leaves or dried basil leaves
1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Make Kraft dinner as directed on the box. omit the butter.
fry meat till browned and drain. Add tomatoes and spice mix well bring to boil.
add meat mixture to mac and cheese and pour into 9 inch square pan. sprinkle with cheese.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through.
We have added salsa and extra cheese with a dollop of sour cream. there is alot of different ways to eat it. Best place to maybe get the recipes is from www.kraft.com or www.kraftkitchens.com

Sorry about links hope they worked but here is one that I know is working ok www.kraftfoods.com and that will take you to some great recipes. I hope you like this it is good. But everyone has different taste. I posted from email and I hadn't realized until I read how many people suggested the tomatoes and other stuff. But I hope this recipe helps out. I have when I got sick of the mac and cheese used just the noodles to make things like macaroni salad even put spaghetti sauce into it before, made chili mac by making it and then adding a can of tomatoe sauce and chili seasonings.. But it is best to try a little before making a whole bunch so if you don't like you don't have to toss it all.

I try to stay away from processed foods and I must say I have not bought a box of Kraft Dinner in years. However, when the kids were young and into lots of activities it was a godsend because it could be prepared very quickly. I used to top it with really brown caramelized onions, or diced ham and sometimes crisp bacon that was crumbled. I always served it with a green salad, sometimes there was just lettuce and a tomato. I used to make my own dressing with vinegar, sugar, herbs, salt and pepper and a bit of oil.

I do not care for the box stuff very much - but we do have it on occassion the rest of the family enjoys it. I like to sautee some onions in butter to add to it - and sometimes add some sauteed ham.... I also think it improves the texture and flavor to add in something green such as peas or broccoli. I sometimes will add in some diced tomatoes... then it is not so bad.
on my homemade I like to crush some chips on top then lay thin slices of tomato and shreds of cheese over that -

I am Canadian. It is a law to eat KD I think. I fry up an onion and garlic then add ground beef and brown it. I put in a few squirts of Worcestershire sauce some salt and pepper and a bit of oregano. Meanwhile I make the KD. I add them together and serve. Of course I have to have ketchup on it too! I call it my KD surprise, The surprise is because if I am missing an ingredient I just use whatever I have on hand. I also like it with wieners chopped up in it. I remember when I first moved out and it was 25 cents a box and when I had no money I would use water instead of milk, not as creamy or good. I couldn't imagine a life without my KD!

We usually have kraft 3-4 times week with our meals. My son loves it with BBQ hamburger in it. We wanted something different one night, so we cut up hotdogs and add them. It wasn't bad at all.
