What the heck is the myLot code on the left of the screen?

I've noticed a link to add an image to your discussion, but I guess I missed what the myLot code link is supposed to do? I've clicked on it, but it's just emoticons and I guess an easier way to jazz up your postings. Does anyone use it? I've never noticed anyone doing so, though it may be that I'm searching the wrong discussions...

The emoticons is something that's new here on mylot. It's only about a week old and something a lot of us have been asking for for a long time. I don't use it as often as I thought I would but I sometimes do. I've noticed that some others use it as well. I think it adds a little something to our posts.

aha moment! - It's an a ha! moment
It's been that short of a time? I thought I missed something! Glad to know it's a quick way to spice up our posts! I think I'll add something to this one (I'm a myLot code virgin, but you've popped my cherry! ) Thanks for explaining!

I use it sometimes, but not as much as I thought I would, I tend to forget it is there!

I've used it a little since I've first noticed it. It's good way to emphesize what you want to talk about. Also, I like that you can actually use an emoticon instead of that :). And, you can add a different tone to your discussion. But, it does slow you down if you are one to want to answer lots of discussions every day.
