I shop alot at second hand stores to save money. Just wondering if others do too. Maybe once a year I buy something like a shirt new. I have lots of fun going thrift shoping as you always get a bargin and there are lots of choice and stores. I change my wardrobe once a year for about 20 bucks.

I do shop at second hand shops, you can get some great things too and they are now a lot more up market to what they used to be. The ones around where I live always have more stuff with the labels still on than second hand, and occasionally you can get a few with designer labels on for next to nothing as well. I do like having new clothes though, but this is quite impossible with having 4 growing children, and everytime I think that I might have enough money to treat myself to something, then they always need to need something!

You could try ebay. I bought my son 3 pairs of shoes for 10 bucks-nothing wrong with them. Just an idea. Teaching kids the value of money is hard to do.

Yes it is rough, especially since my 7 year lad has deliberately ruined 3 pairs of brand new school shoes since January. I was so cross with him today, I only bought his last pair the middle of February and he came out of school today with all the front torn off them. But this time I am making him buy his next pair himself out of all his pocket money he has been saving,ha that should teach him!

Yes, I can live without new clothes. The clothes that I have are probably around 2-3 years old, and the only reason that I have them is because when I started attending a college they had a dress code and I needed "new" clothes for them. I did buy most of them at goodwill with I believe one pair of pants from Old Navy. I would love to be able to buy designer clothing though, and I do think that while it is expensive I am going to save up to buy one or two outfits that are designer names. The reason for this is because the nicer you present yourself, the more seriously people take you. You get waited on first, you are treated well, and people will listen to your opinion. Plus when you look good you feel good.

I figure if they dont like what Im wearing they arent worth my time. I shouldnt have to change to please people. Either they like me or they dont. I dont dress like a slob-but everyone deserves the same respect no matter what you wear. Wearing what makes you feel good is what it should be about. Saving is always a good thing if you have the funds to that.

I do not buy new clothes very often. I get a lot of my shirts from second hand stores. You can find some pretty good deals there sometimes. Just this past weekend I got a $50 denim jacket for my daughter for $2 and a brand new Easter dress with the tags still on for $2. My son got a pair of jeans that look brand new for $2 as well.

I sometimes splurge on a new item. Usually it is clearance priced. But other than tat its consignment for me too. And why not? You can find name brand clothing sometimes new at thrift prices. You can shop k-mart and look like SAX or you can shop SAX and look like crud.

Yes, I can live without new clothes. I lot to shop at thrift stores too and have got some great bargains over the years. Since I'm not working outside of home right now, I have little need for much of anything, but if I go back to work those will the places I will look to first. I have a hard time finding slacks that fit (even in regular stores), but would have no trouble finding blouses and sweaters and such.

Oh yeah, I can definitely live without new clothes. I rarely buy them. But, recently, I've lost so much weight that none of my clothes fit right. Sometimes, though, I get gift cards from doing things like Mypoints or even from Gather and other sites that give out gift cards as rewards. That's usually when I buy new clothes. I am a very tall, large busted, woman and it's very difficult to find clothes in a thrift store that fit me. Sometimes, I luck out, but mostly they are too small or too short in length.

Your avatar is very haunting. I can understand your problem finding clothes. Do you donate sometimes for others?

To a point I can, as far as my shirts go I have a few that I have had for a few years now. I always replace shirts of mine every 2 years unless I really like the shirt and am unable to find another like it. asfar as my suits go I get 4-5 years out of them, the ones I wear most often. Accessories I usualy keep for awhile, shoes are 1-2 years and undergarments every 6 months. You really sound like a bargin shopper, 20$ wouldn't last one shopping trip with me.

The place I go has plastic bags that you can fill up for 3.00. But very rarely do I find suits :)
