No more layaway and no more comparison shopping

I loved walmart when they had the layway and the comparison shopping. It just isn't the same any more. I mean now I have to go shopping in 3 different stores and I don't see how that is fair to the consumers. Don't they realize that by stopping this, they have surely lost some customers? When Sam was alive, this would have NEVER happened. My niece worked for Walmart and she said it all went down hill when Sam died. Do you miss the layway and comparison shopping? Is this an inconvience to you? I know it is to me.

I hate that they took layaway away. Thats how I did Christmas. Now I have to buy out right and its not easy on a tight budget. Do you know why they took that away? You would think that they were making more money with layaway. anyway yes it has inconvienced us.

Hi, No I don't know why they stopped the layaway, and it has inconvienced me as well. I would think they were making a lot of money, everyone used the layaway and they had a charge just for using the layaway. Sam's son took over the business and he isn't out to please the customer, he is only out to please himself. I really think he needs to talk with his customer's before doing anything else so stupid. Thanks for the reply

Sad to say it seems that people who take over businesses these days seem to be out for themselves.

Maybe you could comparison shop online. Our local Walgreens shows their prices and specials online. You can check out various stores and find out who has the best prices. You might not even have to do layaway anymore, if you use a site like Amazon or Ebay, because they really do have lower prices, than most of the other retail stores around. Walmart is not so low priced these days. That is just their slogan, it's not necessarily the truth. I shop where ever and whenever with whom ever has what I need for the money I have. Not just walmart.

I do miss the layaway. I did not know that they quit doing comparison shopping. When did that start? I think everything is going downhill.

I never used layaway so that wasn't a bit disappointment from me. I'm sure if there wasn't something big that I wanted, I would have loved to use the layaway program at Walmart because I shop there all the time and it really would have come in handy.

Walmart has gotten the customer base the wanted so, now they can do away wih these things that they used to attract customers in the first place. They have arrived... that's why most of their stores are superstore , they get you in and hold you thereso you purchase everything there.

Yes, I loved Layaway at Walmart. Now I only go and buy a few things. I only have time to shop when I don't have enough money, and I when I have more money, I don't have time to shop!

Yes. I hate all of the changes that are being made in the world now. they are taking away alot of the good things that we liked and were used to having and using. They are making it so much harder on every one of us.

I'm truly sorry that we lost the layaway feature as well. I remember getting my Christmas stuff there and putting away until I got it out. I do miss that a lot. I tend to feel like Walmart lost it there. I still shop there but it's a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. If they had to limit it, then put a dollar cap to it if possible then folks could do their Christmas shopping, back to school whatever layaway they can without worrying about coming up with the cash right off the back.

I sure do miss layaway. I used it every year for Xmas and it wa great because I didn't have to try and hide the presents. I did not know they stopped the comparison shopping. I only use to do it with layaway. I have heard and seen that Sam would be so upset with the way Corporate America has destroyed his dream. I know Walmart has some type of loyalty programs in the works, from what I have seen on the internet, but I am not at liberty to say which ones they are planning to roll out.

Yes, I knew they stopped layaway. They did this a year or 2 ago. At least they did at the walmart where I live by. My mom use to work at Walmart in the layaway area and she HATED it. Said that they did make a lot of money, but would also lose money as well. Some people would put items back there and just never come back and pay for the rest of it. Not to mention the people who would put it in layaway and pay on it then when it came time for them to take it out all of their items were on sale. So walmart had to let the people have it for the new sale price and would actually have to give the customer all of their items plus some money back in certain cases. If most of their items were on sale after they had been in for awhile they would end up owing the people money. I do still wish they had layaway though. Kmart still does.

Wal-Mart has definitely gone downhill. I still love to shop there, but they do make you mad. I used to work at Wal-Mart a few years ago and to see how they're changing is ridiculous. No layaway? How retarded are these people! Between my husband and I (we've both been married once before) we have 7 children, so Christmas (and just about every other holiday) is extremely expensive. We used to take one trip to Wal-Mart and get all of the gifts for everybody and put them on layaway, stop by and make a payment every paycheck, and then take one day where we would send the kids to a family member's house while we picked up the layaway and wrapped everything. Christmas done! Now you either have to save up all your money or make numerous trips. I didn't know they stopped the comparison shopping, but it doesn't surprise me after the way they've been going. Have you seen how they have to wear uniforms now? Nothing major, just khaki pants and navy blue (I think) shirts. Did you know that the employees have to buy their own uniforms? They may provide one, I can't remember exactly. They carry these pants and shirts in all of their stores, and can definitely afford to write them off, but they still make their associates buy them. So much for being a "family" store. If this is how they treat their family members, I want a new family.
