the usa is slashing interest rates, in an attempt to keep the economy stable,
in your opinion is it enough?
if not what else can be done to stimulate the economy and get it moving again?
people are losing jobs, their homes, and more,
how can things get better?

No. It is not enough. It is a mess here. there are going to cut taxes and increase the sales tax. They lower one thing and raise another. They need to find a solution to the gas problem and start doing more business in the U.S. instead of other countries.

I keep hearing people refer to 'avoiding a recession'. I think it is time that we start saying we are in the throws of a recession, now what are we going to do about it. I think cutting interest rates does have an effect, but it is going to take more than that to turn things around.

What kind of future will the kids have if things keep going down hill the way they are, as you said they are losing their homes, jobs, and cars probably because they lost their jobs and can't pay. Which they then can't afford to look for work because gas prices are skyrocketing out of control. Somehting needs to be done now and raising taxes isn't going to help those who are already in dire need of a safety net. Why wait till alot of people lose everything they have and it to late before only hitting and missing on the issues theat need to be dealt with now and brought to the forefront and give relief to those who need it. Maybe our next president whomever it should be will do a better job then the people we have had the last few years who let things get so bad.

just hope for the best hon,
things happen in cycles, this a bad one and the government is trying to get out of it, how successful they will be who knows,
but then there will be a good one to follow,
I don't work live in dire poverty so it doesn't affect me,
course I am in canada but even if I lived in the usa it wouldn't affect me.

We live barely paycheck to paycheck since he doesn't make much and works here and there doing odd jobs. Sometimes he will get one htat last a week or two but then he doesn't get paid till the job is over so sometimes we go up to 3-4 weeks sometimes before he gets paid. By then the bills are always due again. I guess all we can do is hope for the best nd hope it does have a turn for the better soon. If not for us for the kids.

Cutting interest is a start.
We have to stop being so generous with out jobs. Ok, myself and I can name 10-15 other people in my age bracket lost our jobs because our country off-shored out jobs.
Now you know we are not the only people in the country in this situation, but these were nice paying jobs, we are all in our 50's and now make much less money. Well, we are not buying cars, or expensive appliances or going on vacations because we can't afford it.
Next let's look at the multiplier effects of our job loss - we don't buy cars - eventually auto workers lose their jobs, we don't buy appliances - eventually people in manufacturing lose their jobs, we don't go on vacations ....need I say more.

it is not generosity it is corporate greed, they go to countries where they can make more money because they can pay the workers less.

It is the opinion of my family that if the ethenol program was debunked the economy would pick up substantially. It is time to admit it was a mistake already and nix it. But, surely their analysts knew ahead of time the effects it would have...and for some reason went ahead with it anyhow.
